The daylight period is getting longer again!
The daylight period is getting longer again! We are past the winter solstice once again.
The older I get the faster the summer solstice comes and goes.
I hope to get in some nice riding this year.
I am spending a lot of time doing laundry because my dead father's dog is now incontinent. The dog is the main reason I do not do trips longer than 12 hours.
My deceased mother left her estate to the dog, just not legally. My mother did a lot of charity work but was actually a mean nasty person at times.
The Honda Forza is in the shed at -4.4C. The forecast is for snow today.
A few of the neighbours have organized a Christmas dinner for later. I have to bring cranberry sauce. There are quite a few big cranberry farms in the Fraser Valley.
I won a free lottery ticket yesterday. Big winner! Oh well, $26 million on Friday. If I win I am heading to New Zealand to ride.
The main problem is a passport. I recently learnt that their are questions about my birth and citizenship. Some people have forgotten to declare their citizenship at 16 years old. They applied for their pension at 65 only to learn they are not Canadian although they have lived in Canada for 64 years.
I have memory problems so I can ride to Boston Bar every week and it is partially a new experience every time. I rode home from Chilliwack and forgot to make a turn. I was partially lost. That is one of the reasons I quit riding my dual sports.
The Silverwing I looked at a few weeks ago has come down in price with the snow. I would go too fast on a Silverwing.
I bought the Forza to go slow and avoid the RCMP. It did not work at the Tim Hortons donut shop yesterday. The four RCMP sat on one side of the restaurant and I sat on the far, far other side. Guns scare me. I have been shot at a few times.

I really enjoy getting past the winter solstice. For me it's the back broken of winter and I enjoy watching the slight differences each day.
It's a good time to think of one "must do" for the coming year.

The first few weeks of winter are tough, living on the bottom floor of a 2 story house its cold downstairs.
I swear if I ever get rich the first thing I would do is move south in winter.

Re: The daylight period is getting longer again!
My friends, let's all look at the upside and have hope and great expectations for the new year. Spring is headed our way momentarily and that holiday that is so tough on so many people is now in our rearview mirror.
So Happy New Year to all and keep the shiny side up!

Re: The daylight period is getting longer again!
Excuse me but my wife and I try to be as nice as we can to others, and we are dog rescue volunteers. The one thing that we can not seem to forgive though is a person who abuses our friendship.
...LONG STORY...
An example of that recently was an incident that happened in our subdivision. One of our neighbors saw a very skinny guy sitting on the curb, eating out of a can. He asked the guy if he lived there and the guy went into a big story about being held there against his will, beaten when he would not give his wife and her grown son his retirement checks, and being starved. He had rags for clothes.
Well, we all pitched in to try to help the guy, including getting a lawyer involved. To make a long story short, our neighbor took him in so that he had food, clothing and shelter, and a car ($500), but then the guy needed a psych evaluation in order for the Family Services to get involved. He not only would not keep his appointment to meet them, but he would take off in his car for 12 to 14 hours, come back at midnight or one in the morning, and start banging around the house like it was in the middle of the day, waking everyone up. After talking to him a dozen times about it he still continued this behavior, so we all decided that it was time to turn him loose. After all, even though we would like to help others, if they don't respect our rights, then we have a right to not help them any more.
We try not to get angry about it, but it hurts to see all our efforts ending in actually accomplishing nothing. We did get him to a doctor and a dentist before he started his strange behavior. The dentist said he only had 3 teeth left because the others had been broken off, he suspects by violence of some sort...and the doctor suspects that the guy now has brain cancer or a scrambled brain. They wanted to get an MRI to tell more but they guy started his weird behavior and wouldn't go back to the doctor or dentist.
We see that guy walking the neighborhood ever so often now, or parking his car in front of a stranger's house and walking away. I have no idea where he is sleeping, possibly in his car or back at his wife's place. I suspect that he won't live much longer, so we are all sad but still a bit angry. We feel bad for feeling angry, but we feel hurt by his attitude toward our efforts. I don't think we are scumbags, though.

Correct! I break it down to this, after the new year its time to look forward to the NFL playoffs and SuperBowl which should be a Holiday come game time.montliz44 wrote:My friends, let's all look at the upside and have hope and great expectations for the new year. Re: The daylight period is getting longer again!
I am scanning the long range forecasts for days above 5 degrees C.
My low, low level cold trip is to Harrison Hot Springs. I grab a coffee and sit beside the hot water source.
It might happen in January but I doubt it.
-7C right now.

Re: The daylight period is getting longer again!
I'm still riding, winters here are not that cold anymore, today 5° C and a little rain, got a book from my father in law about the history of our town saying that the river would freeze for 3 months with ice as thick as 80 cm and the winters were as cold as -25° C ( 19th century) never saw that happen, something about the climate is definitly changing...
Nevertheless i can't wait for spring to come !
I wish all PCX riders a happy and healthy 2018!
Cheers, Ronald.

I had a short stay in Hospital today. I have pneumonia and need to take a few pills. Too much snow to go riding anyways.
