That's just a GTV with a sticker on it.PCX150Rider wrote:The Vespa 6 . . . but it's a limited Edition.

They've been making the GTV since at least 2009.

That Kymco is nice. It is too bad that their service sucks because of lack of authorized service centers. I had looked at a Kymco previously and the same concerns showed up then.
As far as the Vespa goes, putting a larger engine on a scooter does not turn it into a motorcycle. I still don't feel as safe on it as I do on the scooters like the PCX, Burgman, and even the Forza.

The Vespa Sei is a 300cc machine with some special features to make it more of a collector's scoot.

One nice thing about Kymcos is that they are easy to DIY service. Kymco parts are not expensive, relatively, and are easily sourced from the on-line distributor.Mel46 wrote:That Kymco is nice. How many of us live near a great scooter shop?
Only the 500s are unreliable --- too many owners have no start issues below 45°F or so with that beast single.

I don't like the Vespa's mudguard headlight.
Nothing wrong with a 300cc engine in a proper-shaped scooter. It's the best of most worlds.

I think it's a nice looking machine. Wouldn't mind having one in my garage.
It's definitely not built like a vintage repro though.
There's no spare wheel mounted on the footrest for one thing. That being said it would probably not go over well in today's market and be considered awkward.
I'm not sure what's up with the tape on the headlight. A metal screen would be a more proactive lens protector.
The premium price on the Vespa scoots is a deal breaker for some but when put in contrast to a Harley 883 OTD price stock it is worth a second look for sure. It moves you around and it's the genuine article.

Those small 12 in wheels on the 300GTS Vespa sure do take some time to get use to. I test rode one and the moment I took off, I was thinking where in the world is the front end feel. ? I am sure given a couple of hours or more I would have the confidence to take it on the freeway at 60mph or more.
Here is the cheapest 300 for recent years I have found.

I noticed in the new Kymco brochure that the 500 has been replaced with a 400. I guess they realized that they had problems with the 500.

Re: any new scooters coming out in 2018-2019 that are cool?
When I ride my Genuine Roughhouse with the 10 inch wheels and single shock rear suspension I have to get used to how light it is compared to the PCX. It requires a different approach to compensate for the quick steering and needs to be given more time to get up to 40 MPH in traffic (which for the most part is pegged). The suspension overall on the Roughhouse is mushy. . .OK for what it is. . .but will bottom out the front fork springs so best to avoid pot holes or bumps. By comparison the PCX suspension feels more like a motorcycle to me and compliant. Although for some after market shocks to render an improvement. Really thrilled with the PCX so far.

Yeah. . .the Xciting 400i ABS.I noticed in the new Kymco brochure that the 500 has been replaced with a 400. I guess they realized that they had problems with the 500.
I looked at the Kymco products before I bought my first scooter. They were making a noble effort to piggy back on existing dealerships at the time and stock them with mostly the Agility, People, and Like machines. The bigger ones were not stocked in quantity at any of the participating dealerships.
There were also reviews I read which commented on the Chinese vs. Taiwanese manufactured Kymco scoots. Things like panel quality, fasteners, and chrome resistance to rusting were some of the topics mentioned. I guess availability of parts was an issue for some customers as well. . .or how long it took to get them.
Have to say though I liked the valve adjustment procedure on the Like 200i better than the PCX. Simple and quick by comparison.

300GTS Vespa has a small oil tank which I think is the worst thing.

After further research it seems the new Vespa 300's have a 2.2 gallon fuel tank and weigh in at 348 lbs.. I checked their site catalog. . ..
