Re: Charging PCX Battery
Take the battery to an auto parts store and have them do a load test. That'll tell you whether you need a new battery. Put it on the car charger if it has automatic shut off. There's no difference between a car charger and a battery charger other than how fast they do it. Put it on the low setting of a car charger. You need to read 12.6 V which is approximately a hundred percent full

Re: Charging PCX Battery
Cheap? It cost me $122 at Motorcycle Superstore for the "official" yuasa. How cheap can you go, and what price in longevity do you pay with a bargain?
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

Re: Charging PCX Battery
Cheap is a relative term. Compare the cost of the official battery to the new lithium ones. Though the lithium ones are a better deal because the last so much longer, they still cost more up front... Well except at this site that I was just looking at.

That looks like a great deal!

Re: Charging PCX Battery
That would be an interesting experiment. The lithium battery chemistry does not loose charge on sitting around at anywhere near the rate of a conventional lead-acid type. For a rarely-used scooter (hard to fathom that thought), it would be a good idea. But at the price you found, a good idea for anybody.

Re: Charging PCX Battery
you need to look around a little bit more. This battery is 52 bucks and I get several years out of it, treating it right. Yeah I think batteries are cheap, In the grand scheme of things. At this price, I replace it every 2 1/2 - 3 years, and put the old one on the bench for a 12 V source.

We have seen lower. I can't imagine doing a decent job without a keyboard and a big screen (and often don't even with what I consider necessary).

I use a tablet. Unfortunately it decides if it likes words I type in or not, and it changes them at its discretion. This auto-correct sucks. I expect better of Samsung.

That is true. Samsung only? Nah. Tablets and cellphones from other manufacturers screw up words too.
I proof read (still, and still misspell

George, seen that vid before and forgot about it. Sooo funny!

Re: Charging PCX Battery
My experience with lithium batteries is that they are all or nothing. When they go they go out like a bulb. With lead acid or conventional gel baterries you usually get a warning ie slow crank or dim bulbs. Not sure how the bike would respond to a battery quitting at 50 mph,and whether or not the bike's charging system will keep the engine running. But they have nice features, and perhaps they use technology preventing that from happening when used in a vehicle.Something to question though.

Re: Charging PCX Battery
There is this one https://www.tayna.co.uk/motorcycle-batt ... eviews/p2/ at £15.95, plus delivery cost I assume. There are some comments saying people have fitted one to a PCX.bunnykins wrote:oh well, i charged it up used scooter then left it a week now looks like its lost its charge !!

A number of others listed https://www.tayna.co.uk/motorcycle-batt ... 0-present/
Tanya seems a decent and established online battery supplier. I have no links to the company, but have bought a few car batteries from them in the past without problems.
It is important to measure the existing battery as the sizes of those listed vary. And, if you don't know already, the PCX is also known as a WW125(ex) for parts ordering purposes.
Hope this helps, and good luck.
Barry.
Re: Charging PCX Battery
thank you all for your comments and feedback.
i popped into a local bike shop and bought a lucas battery for £30 and fitted it. seems ok but only time will tell. its abit shorter so i had to put some foam under it to raise it up so the terminals connect to them easily.
does anyone know an easy way to disconnect the stop start even thou i wont be using it as per reviews of battery drain ?
thanks

Re: Charging PCX Battery
if you don't switch it on, it won't be in use - it's only an ECU electronic 'on' for placing the camshaft (or something like that) in a good position to start from and turning the engine off until you hit the throttle - no changes whether it's fitted or not. If you want to disable it anyway, an easy way is to disconnect one of the wires from the switch itself.bunnykins wrote:thank you all for your comments and feedback.
