BIKE JUST STOPPED
My bike just stopped going. The engine is on but there is no power. HELP!

Re: BIKE JUST STOPPED
Engine running but back wheel not turning when revved?
Most likely to be a shredded drive belt.
Clean out old belt remnants and fit a new one.

Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Yes. Don’t order parts before you get the wrenches out and determine for sure what needs replaced. If you can’t do that then take it to someone who can.

That's the problem. Had that happen to me. One moment cruising, next moment coasting. The belt looked like black licorice strips. New belt and away I went. Oh, after pushing the bike home, about 3 miles.gn2 wrote:Engine running but back wheel not turning when revved?

Re: BIKE JUST STOPPED
I am curious how many miles on the scooter when this happened? I had a Chinese knockoff and this happened to me as well after about 500 miles, but after putting on a higher quality belt never had another problem with it, but I would hope that honda belt would last

Re: BIKE JUST STOPPED
My service schedule says to inspect the belt every 5,000 miles, and replace it at 15,000 miles. All of this depends on various conditions that you ride in and how you ride.

Re: BIKE JUST STOPPED
The easiest thing to do is sell it and buy a new one. No need to order parts, look what's wrong or swing any wrenches. Or take it to a place that can fix it.

So true, the belt I blew up was a Malossi kevlar reinforced one. Had about 12,000 km on it. However I have a tendancy to enjoy "rabbit" take offs at the lights. I believe that shortened its life a bit.Mel46 wrote:My service schedule says to inspect the belt every 5,000 miles, and replace it at 15,000 miles. Learned my lesson though.....
Pack a spare belt and related tools for a quick change on the road.

Good lord thats a 2015! Must be some defective belts out there. Please follow up with actual diagnosis and any modifications you've done to your scoot.

I seem to recall others have posted the Kevlar belts (none Honda originals) are not good to use and you are much better off just using the Honda original and no knocks offs.MikeP wrote:So true, the belt I blew up was a Malossi kevlar reinforced one. Re: BIKE JUST STOPPED
The belt is behind that gray/silver cover on the left side of your bike. I forgot how many bolts/screws come out to get to it, but not so many that it would be considered too difficult for the average rider. That is also where the variator, rollers, and other nice things are. It would be a 10-15 Minute job to change the belt if it isn't shredded so badly that you have to pull the shredded parts out first.
