tire size....

thanks for adding me!! I have a 2017 model, now I'm thinkin' about upgrading the tires to a bigger size and in doing some research ( youtube ) I'm seeing 140 70 14 for rear and 120 70 14 for front, now my question is do I need to do any mods to the rear? again thanks for adding me to the group and thank you in advance for my questions!!!

Not sure if a 2017 will be exactly the same. Hope it helps but I have fallen 3 years behind with my PCX 150 and will join the long list of expired members soon if I don't buy a new PCX. Just to throw in my two cents worth. . .I still find the tutorials/vids quite useful and if there are any differences in the newer models I adjust and adapt. Can't complain when someone helps you get 95% of the way there and then you just have to rough it for a few more steps.

I increased the tires on my PCX with the help of Homie's video. I will say those larger tires make this scoot a great deal better. The front tire may catch small stones and rub the plastic from inside but it hasn't been an issue at all. Typically falls out in a few yards of travel. I have never regretted increasing my tire sizes. Rides and handles great.

I just wanted to increase mine a little bit but couldn't find the replacement tires in the size I wanted, manufactured by Michelin. Nobody had them. It isn't like they were manufactured. There just weren't any in stock. I wanted 100/80-14 in Michelin City Grip. I finally settled for 90/90-14 because I needed to replace my front tire soon.

Well I've had the stock rear tire, a 110/80/14 rear, and now for the past month a 120/70/14 city grip front on the rear (reversed) without any issues whatsoever. The 120 looks a fair deal wider than stock but not so wide the bead is pinched in much, I looked at the 140 since I also have that in the cupboard at home and the bead width is significantly greater than the 120, more than I'd like, so the 120 went on and I have 300 miles on it now without issue. Since the front is layed differently with traction being the aim under braking I reversed it so traction goes with acceleration and the tread pattern is where it would be if it was a rear. Some would screech "You're crazy" but around motorcycle club racing we'd do this all the time, whatever tire was on hand. Took it to 72mph last weekend and couldn't be happier. I'll post pics on my build thread when it finally stops raining.

This is also used on some bicycle tires that don't have front/rear specific tread designs -- mount one direction for front, opposite direction for rear.

Fitting a rear fitment tyre on the front or a front fitment tyre on the rear the wrong way round is just ridiculous.
It would get you fined here, potentually void your insurance cover and the vehicle would definitely fail its MoT test (mandatory annual safety inspection)

Coming up..2019 PCX has 100/80/14 stock front and 120/70/14 stock rear if I'm not mistaken. I'm actually tempted to get these wheels as well while I'm at it

Well I'm glad I don't live there.
In a place where mass slaughter at schools is commonplace and you have what can only be described as a joke for a justice system then yes, fitting the wrong tyres would be pretty inconsequential.
Over here where human life has a value which isn't monetary, we like to keep people safe and having them fit the correct tyres is one way we try to achieve this.

Alrighty then, we're talkin' tyres. Me? I'd prefer to sell my 2015 and buy a new 2019 with it's bigger tires. Afterall Honda chose them not I. A win-win!

K2, the link you provided says the bike has 110/70-14 front and 120/70-14 rear. I don't think I would try those sizes on my bike, at least not all at once without trying them individually first to see how they handle.

I wanted a 100/80-14 for my front tire because I read that article that said Honda was changing the tire size in front to that, so they have already tested it. However, that doesn't mean they are available yet. :-(

.... but now I have a 90/90-14 to be put on as soon as I can get the bike to the shop.
