Been up to Helen more than a few times. Nice bike ride. Once you hit the town traffic though it isn't a nice ride. It is stop and go traffic.
As for the 'hooch', the river water close to our house has become polluted so you have to wait until notice that it is clean enough to get into before going tubing. Up in the mountains, where it begins, it is still clean but there are too many tourists now.

To ride or Not to ride, that is the question. Even Mesh (in any flavor) won't work unless you're Moving!
Dang traffic! The coming of the 4th of July has everybody out and they're nuts-so!!

The tourists are coming in droves. . ..

Unlike anything I've seen before. . .at least around my area.

And I've been riding when it hasn't been raining. . .mostly around town. Took a waterfront ride this morning. Saw two bicyclists riding side by side with no idea they were holding up 5 cars behind them. I pointed to the riders to look behind them and they looked at me like "What???". Hate to sound like an echo but stupidity should be declared a "disorder" or "disease" because stupidity is harmful and it seems to be spreading in epidemic proportions. And what about those vehicles that are always drifting from the shoulder to the center line. . .you know they are texting. . ..

Yes it's hot! Damn hot!

My Jack Russell Terriers definitely do not like fireworks. Several years ago on the 4th one of my dogs was let out of the yard by a mentally challenged child. Our dog was so frightened by all the fireworks that she just ran blindly. We found her 26 days later, 6 miles away, down by the river. She had crossed several major roads back and forth multiple times. God only knows why she didn't get hit. When we found her she had lost 7 pounds, which is a lot for an 18 pound dog, and she was very sick and she will never be the same. Now the gate is padlocked.

The weather forecaster said that this is the third worst Summer for rain in CT according to record. The 1955 and 2011 seasons still top the charts here though. Waterbury and the Naugatuck River Valley got hammered in '55. They've made films about it. It was known as the "Brass City" for all the manufacturing in WWII. It was described in the Ken Burns documentary "The War". A lot of the mills built in the early New England days were built near rivers or streams for a list of reasons. When the water rises it spreads quickly causing a lot of damage in low lying areas. Here's a brief film about it. . ..

We're hearing seeing living with more and more Catastrophes. Devastating weather.
There was a time that I turned on the weather channel just to see if the sun would shine. Basically, it was a yes or no - Right? with an added thunderstorm or snowstorm thrown in the weeks mix.
Not so bad. Today, all kinds of shite is coming/goin' down and OMG, all the fires!!
