The PCX is the first scooter I've ever owned. I love it! I'm not sure if i will go back to motorcycles again. Simple to run and maintain. Inexpensive. What more could I want?

Re: Starting age
Heh. 47. But I only started driving cars when I was 37 as I'd always lived in capital cities.

Rode motorcycles from 19-30, by the time I started riding a scooter 31 years had passed, so I put the never forget to ride a bike to the test. Had to go through a bit of a learning curve for sure.

The only time I have ridden a motorcycle was to do the MSF course last year. It was two days and on the second day they allowed me to use my scooter. Not that the bike was a problem (it was actually lighter than my scooter), but because I was more comfortable on it.

Re: Starting age
I was 33 when I bought my first scooter, but my first experience with scooters was in college, when I was 19. A buddy had an old Honda Aero 50. it topped out at 25mph, but it was a blast to ride even so.
I got my own scooter when the gas prices hit $3 a gallon here back in 2008. That was a Yamaha Vino 50, and while it was a nice little machine, I soon found that motorists have no respect for anyone else on the road and a 50cc scooter is a death sentence in suburbia, so I upgraded to a 150 after 5 months of that nonsense. I had both the 150 and a 750cc Honda Sabre for a while, but got rid of the big bike and kept the scooter. About three years ago, I swapped it out for the 2013 PCX I enjoy so much now.

Re: Starting age
I've given up the motorcycle in my 30's.
This spring, at 59, I've purchased my scooter and can't get enough of it.

Re: Starting age
I have been riding motorcycles for 50 years but when I was diagnosed with Leukemia my wife said no more motorcycles, so I bought a Burgman 400 scooter. That was when I was 65. It has been said that you step down to a scooter when you get old, but with the power that some of them have now the lines are blurring between motorcycle and scooter. Honda even has a motorcycle with an automatic transmission now.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150
Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Re: Starting age
Honda have made a few bikes with auto transmission, going all the way back to the CB750A of 1976.
Lets not be in any doubt, a scooter is very definitely a motorcycle, its just a motorcycle with a different body shape.
Its neither a step up or down, because its really all the same thing.

I had a couple of Yamaha T80's when I was 17. 1 was a runner and the other one was for spares!
