Hello everyone. I have just joined the forum. I am located in NC, USA. I have read quite a bit here before registering. I have had two Silverwings in the past. I have a Honda NT700v right now. I've had an eye on the NC700X with the DCT as my wife rides but hates shifting. The Silverwings were for her but I think I rode them more. She felt inadequate on a scoot. I am looking for something for around town and commuting (7 miles each way @ 50mph and 1 mile @ 60-65). I also miss the weather protection. When it was raining, I jumped on the Swing and left the "regular" bike at home. Looking to do the same with a PCX and figure out what to do about a larger bike later as I no longer want the NT. I'm not sure I want the total jump to a scooter right now (although BMW is making me salivate a little with their new entries).
So, a couple mods I need are top case (I have read about those). Do you think a large Shoei Multitec modular helmet would fit under the seat? If not, the top box would get that plus some Frogg Toggs, bungies, first aid kit, etc. Next is a power outlet. Are there any power outlet locations where Honda may have provided the option on non USA models (because the USA doesn't get the good stuff). The Silverwing had a spot for a 12v cigarette lighter style plug. If not, has anyone mounted a powerlet or 12v socket someplace neatly? I have not seen one of these in person and probably won't won't until I buy. My area is not known for scooter sales.
Anyway. I'm 52 and have been riding for years. Mostly cruisers (Kawi 800, Suzuki Boulevard C50) and UJM's (Kawi KZ440, Honda Magna V65), and now the NT. I have modded quite a bit but have been growing a bit tired of that and will do little more than accessory power and some driving lights to the PCX.
Thanks for any advice on issues I mentioned.

Given that you want decent weather protection, regularly need to do 60mph and need to store a large flip helmet under the seat, imo you need a bigger scooter.
Based on what's available in the USA a Kymco Downtown 300 would be my suggestion.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Hi and welcome to this forum. I have the NT (we call the Deauville over here in the UK) I also have the PCX for local commuting runs.
I can state for a fact that the Shoei Multitec will NOT fit under the seat (This is my helmet of choice too!) The Helmet will fit in Honda's offering for a top box (case) but there's not much room for anything else. Not sure how big a top case you could get away with on the PCX.

Welcome to the forums!

Fitting a 12v socket is relatively easy -- many people (myself included) have mounted them in the glovebox. I made a how-to here, but make sure to read the whole thing, others posted below my original post in that thread with how they did it without removing nearly as many fairings as I did.

I also own a Silverwing. I much prefer the PCX's handling, it's a lot more agile than the Silverwing. The Silverwing does provide a lot more protection, even with the largest windshield available for the PCX mounted on it.

The PCX 150 should be okay for your purposes, but you would be near the end of its limit at the 60-65 stretch of riding. The PCX would work for your purposes, as long as you don't weigh a lot. At 60-65mph, a heavier rider will mean a lot less response from the small engine.
Currently ride: Nothing right now - mostly mountain biking with my boys until they're old enough to ride
Previously rides: 2011 Honda PCX 125, 2005 V-Strom DL650, 1974 Vespa Ciao, 2011 Honda PCX 170 (tons of mods - takegawa 170cc big bore kit, gears, etc), 1996 Honda Nighthawk 250, 1987 Honda Spree, 2000 KTM 125SX, 2003 Honda Silverwing, 2007 Genuine Buddy 125, 1998 Honda PC800, 2008 Buddy 125 (white), 2008 Buddy 125 (red), 2001 Honda Reflex, 1987 Honda Elite, 1988 Honda Spree, 2007 Yamaha Vino, 2007 Honda Metro, 2x 125cc pure-chinesium dirt bikes
