Brand new PCX 125 noise when spinning back wheel
I noticed a slight noise at very slow speed on over run from the rear today, only done 110 miles, when I got home and spun the rear wheel by hand. I called the dealer who eventually suggested they "would look at it" on the first service @ 600 miles. I videoed it on my phone and a very helpful lad on the uk Facebook pcx group said they all do it,and kindly videoed his own bike making a similar but louder noise than mine.
I had hoped to upload the video to this site, but the site doesn't allow MP4 apparently, so unless someone can tell me how I make the video acceptable, can anyone tell me if there should be some noise when turning back wheel .
I realise there is a lot going on at the back, belt, clutch etc,but as I have only experience one twist and go bike, I have no idea what to expect.
The best way I can describe it is like a brake pad rubbing on a disc (sort of)
Thanks for your time

You might read up on the issues some of us had in the past. Until you reach page 3 of this topic you will note that the comments are from 2014. Pay attention to the video that works. That is on page 3 as well. There have been some problems with video posting since the server was updated for better security.

I suspect he's hearing the normal sound we all hear for the first time. I REALLY doubt the bad 'face driven' bearings are still coming out on new PCX's.
I can video a normal sounding rear wheel spin if it would make you feel better dude.

Re: Brand new PCX 125 noise when spinning back wheel
Just been to dealer I bought it from, they have said it's normal, but as I have reported it,they will cover it under warranty if it gets worse.
While I was there I tried a new one, that had no noise at all, then a used one that had much louder noise than mine.
So none the wiser really, but it ran well,it's a 90 mile round trip,no issues at all and the noise hasn't got worse.

It might help you to feel better to know that any bad bearing noise that has been discussed on this forum did not start showing up until the bikes had at least 7,000 miles on them. At less than even the break In miles on the bike, I really doubt that you have a bearing problem.

Thanks Mel,I'm sure I've been worrying with no good cause,I can't hear the noise when riding or even pushing the bike. Dealer seems genuine, nowadays it's considered a cheap bike, but it's not to me.

Finally managed to upload video link of noise https://youtu.be/uo6cPNHpkgo. Noise does seem to be less now after another 90 miles on bike.

Re: Brand new PCX 125 noise when spinning back wheel
Kind words, very nice, always so polite from London town. Come over here youyou and let me slap you a whilecnikonpete wrote:I suppose 300 miles is next door in the USA,

HEY! make sure you roll the wheel in the forward direction not just the aft a couple times when checking the 'clutch bearings'.
I was corrected on my channel for calling them 'wheel bearings' Lots of POLITE'S on YT too

Anywho here's a question... do you get a little side to side motion on the wheel as well? Also a little dead space when going from forward rotation to backward? I think these are both typical characteristics of the design.... I hope, I hope

No. It’s still a completely different place.

Re: Brand new PCX 125 noise when spinning back wheel
Tiny amount of rocking movement, as if checking for wheel bearing in normal vehicles, the dead spot I will check later. As it's 5 am in Cornwall, going to work soon, rather be riding.
