2019 PCX150 - USA model
Hey all, I was able to check out the 2019 PCX150 - the new Bright Bronze Metallic color looks great in person - gives the PCX an almost luxurious appearance. I also thought the new dash looked pretty cool. However, I was disappointed by the storage space under the seat - I had read it was improved over the old model but it didn't really look any bigger than what I remember my old 2015 model had. Also, I was disappointed (but not surprised) to see it still had the same old fashioned key with the annoying trap door thing like on previous models - I wish Honda would have given it the keyless system like they have on overseas models. Overall though I thought it was very nice! Here's a quick little vid/pics - enjoy:

Re: 2019 PCX150 - USA model
I just don't understand why Honda won't just produce same specs everywhere for every year's model.
Thai PCX 2018 - no ABS, keyless
Indo & Philippines - with ABS, keyless
US - not keyless, no ABS
But why?

Re: 2019 PCX150 - USA model
Yeah it would have been very cool to get the keyless system in the USA. ABS is actually an available option on the USA 2019 model for an extra $300, however the one in my video did not have it. Another frustration of mine is the lack of color options in the USA! Overseas markets get several to choose from and we get only one choice for 2019. Here's a link to the Honda USA website:alx123 wrote:I just don't understand why Honda won't just produce same specs everywhere for every year's model.

So their price has gone from $3499 to $3699 but they haven't added anything new? It costs extra for ABS on the front brake only, and you still have to use your key to start it.
I think I'll keep my 2013 model.

Re: 2019 PCX150 - USA model
Yes the improvements since your 2013 are arguably just incremental and cosmetic - so if you’re happy with what you have I would not run out to get a 2019. To me the optional ABS is a big deal even though it’s only on the front wheel. I’ve watched tons of crash vids on YT where the cause of the crash was a locked up front wheel - as soon as the front wheel locks up the rider pretty much goes down immediately especially if they are leaning in a curve. ABS can prevent that and I believe it has saved my @$$ a couple times on my motorcycles. Locking up the rear wheel does not usually have the same catastrophic effect.Mel46 wrote:So their price has gone from $3499 to $3699 but they haven't added anything new? Like the lights, the dash, and the wider wheels and tires, and the color is nice too, but seriously, the X-Town 300 isn't much difference in price and you get a lot more.

Yeah but the X-Town is in a different category; it weighs almost 400 lbs. and about 10" longer. Definitely a bargain for the price if you want a bigger bike, no doubt about it.k2apache6.0 wrote:Like the lights, the dash, and the wider wheels and tires, and the color is nice too, but seriously, the X-Town 300 isn't much difference in price and you get a lot more.
I find the PCX to be just right. I was tempted to wait for a 2019 model before committing to a 2018 Pearl White but the metallic bronze color is just not my taste. I don't understand the logic behind giving U.S. buyers one color choice. It's insane! And no keyless either? Hard to follow that logic when the new Super Cub will have keyless.
I could rant a bit more but all 'n all, I'm very happy with my PCX. When I have some available time, I'll be writing a "One Month Review" now that I've been riding again after 8 years. I also just picked up a new 2018 Duke 390 last Saturday. That about sums up how much fun I've been having. Ride on!

Here in the UK a PCX is listed on Honda's website at £2929k2apache6.0 wrote:Like the lights, the dash, and the wider wheels and tires, and the color is nice too, but seriously, the X-Town 300 isn't much difference in price and you get a lot more.
X-town 300 price is harder to pin down because Kymco UK no longer list prices on their website.
When the X-town replaced the Downtown the Downtown was £4000 and the X-town was around £500 more.
Back to today and there's a listing on a dealer's website selling the X-town 300 for £3600
Interestingly if you browse through the picture in the listing there's a ticket for £4595 on the windscreen.
Maybe people don't want an invisible matt black scooter?
What morons decide these colours?
Going back to Honda's website, the new Forza 300 is on there at £5099
£3600 for the X-town or £5100 for a Forza...?
£1500 is a lot of cash for an electrically operated screen.
Comparing the 300s with a PCX, the PCX is a better tool for the urban jungle, the 300s do better out of town.
As has often been said and can't be stressed enough, getting the right scooter for you depends on how and where you will use it.
"a lot more" can be a real hindrance
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Not so keen on the keyless system, more to go wrong and more expensive to fix. Someone with a UK Forza 125 has just been charged £40 for a replacement key for the programmable normal style security key, but the new keyless version replacement costs £200!

There is also traction control on the Forza 300 which can be switched off - not sure what use that is to be honest as most users get on fine without it.

Re: 2019 PCX150 - USA model
Whoa! I just watched four top speed vids on YT of the redesigned PCX150 and the two slowest vids showed indicated speeds of 118 and 120 kph (73.3 and 74.6 mph) which is a nice improvement over my old 2015 model. The ability to do a solid 70 mph on occasion would be perfect for a scooter of this size IMO - I wouldn’t really want it to go any faster. A couple of other vids showed the new model supposedly doing an indicated 135 and 141 kph (83.9 and 87.6 mph), but I’m skeptical it can really do that.

Re: 2019 PCX150 - USA model
Definitely not the same engine as the older models, might be worth the increase in price.
115kph (71mph) easily attained, and will climbed up slowly to 120kph (74.5 mph) in a long stretch of road.
Any speed beyond that isn't possible on a stock engine, the rev limiter always kicks in.
Quite impressive considering that it's now reduced to 149cc and consume approx 52km/L (122mpg US) of fuel.

Maybe they changed the gearing again, for the better? Are the tyres the same size?alx123 wrote:Definitely not the same engine as the older models, might be worth the increase in price. 115kph (71mph) easily attained, and will climbed up slowly to 120kph (74.5 mph) in a long stretch of road. Re: 2019 PCX150 - USA model
I recently saw a PCX in a powersports showroom but didn't realize it was a '19
I asked the Salesman to roll her out from the group. Geez, I guess it was the New Color that threw me off...which by the way is lovely, (just Not White)
Honda added silver-ish accents of paint here n there. A very Nice touch and Nicely placed.
The saddle looked different...narrower? longer? higher?
I got on it felt higher, my sneaker's soles were Not planted on the ground. But wait, I can't fairly judge that. My aftermarket seat sits lower (actually a bit too low for me). With me proper boots on the '19 saddle height should be fine (I'm just shy of 5'5").
I spent minutes in the store. I was a bit aggravated. The salesman knew Sooo little about the PCX or any of the scooters around it I actually found myself teaching him. Why does that happen, aren't they taught? It's the same when I buy a car/truck too.
Do I want to buy ANY Bike from a salesman like that?
Well, I suppose you could twist my arm.... "IF the Price were Right!"
Don't a lot of us (in the USA) find that to be true?

Re: 2019 PCX150 - USA model
If you are looking for a new in town scooter I think the new PCX would be a GREAT contender.
That being said, those of us with the older PCX can get a top end improvement with some inexpensive mods, and I am betting that the new tire sizes will work well on the old PCX as well.
The PCX is a solid scooter, whether you buy new or old. As an in town scooter, it handles beautifully. Just choose well for what you expect to use your scooter for.

Shouldn't that give a higher top speed as more ground covered for each rev (queue the 'it's not as simple as that replies')WhiteNoise wrote:Larger
