Givi windscreen question

Just installed the larger Givi screen. A warning sticker said to clean only with water. Is that actually necessary? I have always used a spray wax to soften bugs, clean and polish.

I've had a GIVI for going on three years now, clean it with anything you want thats not abrasive. Most of the time I use Windex.

To each there own but I only use water on visors or screens.

Cover with wet kitchen towel, leave for 10 mins and remove. Gently wipe away and remaining marks.

I dont polish anything that is scratchable. Insect skeletons are very hard.

This is what I use on mine. It not only cleans bugs, etc off of the windshield, but it also puts a light protective coating on it for future riding that makes a lot of what would normally stick to your windshield just slide right off. Does well in rain as well.

I like these from my local hardware store.

Stoner perfectly moistened invisible glass wipes. Pull one wipe from container use first on helmet visor, then mirrors, then windscreen and headlamp area, finish with running boards.
Toss in the trash... 28 rides per container

Have ridden with the tallest Givi for about 100 miles now. I am 5’11” and in traffic turbulence over 45mph it flexes considerably. At higher speeds the turbulence is such that it will take off my cap (if I am not wearing a helmet) and has emptied my shirt pocket twice. It feels almost like the shorter Givi that I installed first.

Altho it looks sharp, I am wondering if I made the right choice? Is the National w/screen thicker or designed so that it holds it position at highway speeds.

I am 1 inch shorter than you and the wind is fine for me. I don't expect it to be calm when riding above 45 mph. However, if you have a problem from wind coming straight at you over the windscreen (as apposed to side wind), you could buy or make a clip on attachment for added wind deflection, like this:

Riding on the freeway is a different story. I don't take it there because of turbulence from big trucks and fast cars. There is a lot of cross-wind on freeways.

Thanks for the reply. At speeds under 45mph the tall Givi works will. The cockpit air is quiet and flows above and around me. But at 45mph and above the pressure causes the screen to lean toward me allowing more air to reach me making it very turbulent.

I wonder if the extra weight of the device you pictured would make it worse.

There was at least one of our members who attached a wind deflector to his tall windshield and reported good results. I can't remember who that was, but I have also seen others who had the mid height windscreen and did the same for it. Almost every deflector until this one was close to the cost of a replacement windshield, so I was really surprised at seeing this one at such a low price. I don'the know how well it works but the price is great. I guess someone will have to try it if we want to know how well it works.
