Autumn Forest Ride

Post by Old Grinner »

The leaves are just starting to turn here on some of the trees but most are still green. It's a slow Autumn this year. . .the brilliant foliage is yet to be had in my area but it was great to be off the busy roads.

I took the Zuma out on some local forest roads for the first time today just to see if the reviews I've seen/read about it's "off road" capabilities were true. There were some slippery spots and deep gullies due to rain water run-off from the severe storms we've been having lately but I navigated successfully and stood on my previous dirt bike riding experience. The water table is still high also. Any rain we get from that storm in the Gulf of Mexico right now as it passes up the coast later this week will not be welcomed. The pics say it all . . ..

Enjoy! :D

Riding on those roads can be annoying.. I am surprised no color as of almost mid October.. They said (weather channel) that winter is being pushed back by 17 days ??

Some of my rides are really pretty right now, and should be for the next couple of weeks. My road choices hinge on traffic. On my usual, pretty much nobody roads, the leave don't get swept off the road by the traffic. If they are at all wet, I will avoid those road completely even though they are the favorite. With any luck I will get some new pictures, but for now...

On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

You are still in Florida? GGeezzzz. . ..

It's survival time again down there. May the Force be with you.

And yes I would believe the season is about half a month behind. Doesn't look like any freak snow storms before Halloween this year. It will be near 80F here tomorrow and humidity approaching 90%. Then Thursday the remnants of Storm Michael pass over us. I think the folks on Long Island are going to be sweating out the rain again as well. Whitenoise are you out there? Keep an eye to the horizon. o_O

Oh yes . . . the wet leaves.

Those lake shots remind me a bit of hike I took in the Mt. Everette State Reservation/Mt. Washington region bordering NY, CT, and MA a few years ago. MA has some really nice places to ride. The Mohawk Trail Rt. 2 is one of my favorites. 8)

WOW! Really Great Pics Guys!
Fall photos are awesome. The colors, the landscapes, the shadowing....the Posing :D

Craters!
Those Backroads certainly are eaten up OG, but Look how Beautiful it is all around you 8) I'll admit, I'd be riding those dirty-danger roads too If I lived there. You're lucky to have "quiet" paths to venture on. I'm really diggin' your Zuma! It's got a "cool flare" about it!
Thank you for sharing and be careful. On Thurs our Big Rain from hurricane Michael will flood areas (a Cat 4 in the panhandle of Florida as I type) Pray for them

easyr, be safe! take heed to warnings please! I believe Michael is Florida's biggest hurricane ever to come on shore. My heart goes out to Everyone in it's path. Again, I pray

2you's....Yeh, you shared a pic!! Long time coming. A great one at that! She's looking mighty fine and Clean too :D Note his Saddle folks, a Beauty right? Thank you sir for posting Attn: WN :P

George I love love Lake photos esp when foliage is SO colorful!! Ahh the Serenity. Peace.
Yes, please do share more with us. Perhaps with your scoot and you (if you'd like) ;)

I gotta find the time to find me some color too. I'm hoping this weekend.

Speaking of Hurricane Michael, we are feeling the outer bands of it way up here in Atlanta. I feel for those who will get the main part of it.

We have a friend down where it hit, and she called during it to give us updates. What we DIDN'T know was that she lives in a mobile home and had decided to stay instead of leaving like sane people did. They have their home tied down but she told us that she could feel it pulling at the tie-downs and trying to break loose. Their truck was destroyed when a big tree fell on it during the storm, and the house was leaking through all of its seams...and part of the roof blew off.

Some people take too many chances. Not me. I would have packed up and left!

Just starting to get the effects of it now. . ..

Quickly ran an errand and just got back in time while the first drops were starting. Wiped off the windshield and left it at that.

Thanks!

And thanks to all the first responders helping those storm victims.

I remember seeing them patrolling the air in helicopters the day after Storm Sandy 6 years ago assessing damage. There is a beach under all that water. . .. o_O

It looks like you have a bit of beach erosion going on there.
