The 305 is nice. I rode one once upon a time, or one very similar to it. However, I never liked the seat styling. I had a Friend who had his modified by making a dip in the seat where he would sit, and widening the passenger area about an inch on both sides... and then he put a Sissy bar on the back.
I did something similar to one of my 350s.
There were a lot of Honda 305's around campus when I was in college. The new 350's were selling well also. I still remember that bright yellowish gold color. I did get a chance to ride one a few times.
At that time the school of thought in my college motorcycle club about sissy bars was that if you had a "get off" it would be better to slide off the back of a bike without any hindrance such as a "sissy bar". Having a backrest or sissy bar could give you injury if hit from behind or you could get your leg hung up and be dragged along with the bike. Highway bars were frowned upon also. They would protect the bike but it was something else to get tangled up with if you had a get off. Basically the mindset was to keep the bikes simple and clean.
That said I do have a top box and have used it on several of my bikes over the years. However, I've given it a healthy dose of reflective stickers and hope it increases my "presence" on the road during the day and visibility and night. . .especially on the scooter.
