Tis the season

Post by easyrider »

Be careful , almost got clipped today by someone making a left turn directly crossing in front of my path of travel. Traffic has intensified and everyone is rushing about shopping and doing errands, etc etc .. Nobody is looking !!! Take heed and be especially be careful and on guard this time of year.

I went out today, admittedly in the car, and everyone was really courteous and polite. Everyone was looking. Take care to enjoy this time of year if it is in some way different to another in terms of road safety.

Yeah. . .I know what you mean. Lot's of people in a rush and lot's of people who assume too much and take chances that can result in an accident.

I don't trust turn signals until I'm sure I actually see the vehicle slowing down and turning into the street or lane of their choice.

Someone in a Porsche Cayenne in line behind me at an intersection today really started to put the squeeze on me because I was waiting to see if an approaching vehicle was going to actually turn as they indicated. I don't know how many times at this particular intersection I've seen people continue to go straight because their self canceling switch didn't function yet from the previous turn. Better to be safe than sorry. :geek:

One of the problems we have here is multiple streets between lights. When you see someone with their turn signal on, you really can't be sure which street they want to turn onto.

As an example, our secondary subdivision entrance is before a major intersection, but not by much...Maybe 20 feet. When I see a car put on their turn signal and I am coming out of that secondary entrance, I have to wait to see which street he will be turning on. It may be my street, or it may be the next one. If i choose to think that it is my entrance and I pull out, i could be toast if i am wrong.

Be cautious this time of year. It will probably save your life.

And. . .sometimes they just don't signal at all too. Maybe because they've got one hand full of phone and the other on the wheel?

So you sit and wait and when they pull in it just makes you wonder why they are so ignorant and self serving. You probably would have waited until they pulled in anyhow even if they did have the turn signal on but at least you'd appreciate their courtesy and consideration for others on the road. :D

Just as an added note be careful of bicycle riders at intersections as well. A lot of them aren't technical riders like in Europe. . .they don't stop at intersections or follow any rules. . .they will just pedal right across your path like they have no brains or sense of survival. o_O

I think to sum everything up. . .the way it's getting on the roads today. . .the main rule is "AVOID CONTACT" by all necessary means. ;)

Some days I wish I was a cop because of all the stupid things I see but they would give me a gun and it would be hard to get rid of that many bodies.

I am the worst rider I know so get out of my way.

Today my wife was on her way to a vet appointment and had to turn left. The arrow was red and there was a car in front of her, so she was content to wait...not the car in front of her though. Nope. It turned left on red right in front of a SUV, and just missed being broadsided. The sad thing was that there was a kid in the front seat beside the driver.

It is unlawful to have a small child in the front seat.

Obviously, that driver could care less about the law.

Over this side of the Atlantic we have the Dail Mail. Perhaps see if it is available on line?

To want, to have, to have had, . . . that is the question. o_O

For t'is a noble deed to dream of what would be , could be , should be, without remorse .

Yet to remain reticent of thy real dilemma is more common than thou canst perceive.

Let life be a party and care not for the evil that lurks behind the door.

Well, getting back to the season, mainly because the "Royals" represent politics and that is a no no for this forum, this season is suppose to represent giving, politeness, and kindness.

Obviously this season has evolved, and now it represents crowds, selfishness, impatience, and RUDENESS. It is up to each and every individual to help to change this. It is a big job.

Until this change happens though, please be mindful of others. Courtesy is contagious.

I think everyone got the point. Appreciate this is an oxymoron but chill and read your Daily Mail. You deserve it.
