Increasing fuel capacity.

Increasing fuel capacity.
Any one seen or tried to turn the 'trunk' into and extended gas tank?
Increasing the range would be nice. Especially for rides to more secluded areas.

Re: Increasing fuel capacity.
Haven't seen any such mods, but a simple solution would be to stick a five litre fuel container in there.
The one I have fits with room to spare, you can get metel ones but I don't know if they will fit.

Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong
Re: Increasing fuel capacity.
I'd rather carry a small jerry can with gas in the "trunk", rather than installing a permanent auxiliary tank
.

Re: Increasing fuel capacity.
I would pay some serious $$$ for a permanent solution to increase the fuel capacity by a gallon. Since my round trip distance to work is 55 miles, i have to stop for fuel every day.

Ditto but it's 60 miles for me. And extra gallon would make a lot of difference

I've thought of that but it's still re-filling. Just the same amount of overall faff
Re: Increasing fuel capacity.
Hardly seems worth the risk. Just my thought....
Dump the thing and then what? Fire!!!!
My King Quad Suzuki had the same issues, but was limited to around 50 Miles and some trails were longer than that. For a while we carried extra cans, until a good friend hit a stump and rolled his. The can popped off and spilled. It could have been real ugly if any of it spilled onto the muffler.
Not worth it!

Re: Increasing fuel capacity.
I don't think there's an easy way to. The tank is pretty wedged in there. You may be able to do some sort of a custom tunnel bag tank thing, but I'm not sure if that would be worth it either. :/

Re: Increasing fuel capacity.
Hi, I am a new member, I do not have a PCX at this time , but am seriously contemplating buying a new one. From looking at the fuel tank on the 2010 sh150i,on Bike bandit.com I would speculate that there is space on the top of the stock tank to install a 90 degree fuel inlet that you could attach a hose to from a AUX tank mounted on a luggage rack.I still need to go to a dealer and look at thier parts breakdown for the new 2013 PCX to determine if this is a option for it. I have used a 1.8 aux plastic type material with a shut of and reserve position valve that comes with it, and also a 3 gallon fuel cell on a Honda Shadow VLX.
Re: Increasing fuel capacity.
Having just done a day tour on the PCX I can report that my bum was sore and in need of a stop before I ran out of fuel
