2015 Forza 300 getting hot in traffic
Hi guys and girls
New owner of a Forza 300 2015
I love it .. had her a week ...
So the coolant was down ... I was getting the temp pushing the red zone on the gauge in traffic after 2 mins Ish ... soon as I pulled off the gauge went down to halfway and below ..
So I’ve topped her up .. and it’s still doing it .. 2 mins when warm it goes towards the red zone .. but even still when I blip the throttle it starts to go down cooler ..
Please any advice ??? I’m a bit concerned as it’s new to me .. water cooled getting hot ? Is there more to this or is it normal ?
Regards Steven

Seems like you have air in there somewhere. Did you buy this new or used?

What is the recent history of servicing?....especially the coolant? Procedure may not have been done properly....air in the system is #1 cause of overheating?
Do you hear the fan come on?

Hi guys
2nd hand .. 7000 miles .. just serviced .. oil looks super clean when checked ..
So I’ve just topped the coolant up .. opened the cap .. turned on the engine .. idle for 5 mins .. blipped throttle a few times .. told this can bleed air out ..
Fan works .. rad is cool till certain temp then fan kicks on ..
I’ve just ran it to idle after the hopeful bleed .. fan came on .. and didn’t soar to the red .. stayed around 2 thirds on gauge ... so maybe the open cap Engine on got air out ?!

Which cap did you open? radiator or reserve? Radiator cap should be opened because it's the highest point for air to escape if any in system. Did you rock the bike back and forth a bit as well to work the air up and out? Did the system take anymore fluid from the reservoir?

Hi ... no just the reserve cap ... I don’t know where the rad cap is ?!

It's right up behind the front wheel on the left hand side as your are facing the front of the bike. DON'T OPEN IF THE BIKE IS HOT!Sjm300 wrote:Hi ... no just the reserve cap ... I don’t know where the rad cap is ?!

Bleed Air From The System
With the Scooter on the center stand and the radiator cap off, start the engine and let it idle for 2 – 3 minutes. Snap the throttle 3 – 4 times to bleed air from the system.
Stop the engine and check the coolant level.
Add coolant up to the filler neck.

I asked about that years ago. No one really seemed to know.

I had a similar problem when mine was new to me. I had too much air in the system. Took cap off, filled it up, and no problems for the next 100,000 km.
