nooooo. Abs faulty.
I was suppose to be picking up my pcx today brand new. I’ve been told I can’t have it until September 10th. There’s a abs warning light on and the part it needs is on order.
I have got a loaner scooter mean time in red. It’s the first time I’ve taken one out on the road. They ride brilliant.
Are the abs systems bad on these machines by any chance?

Re: nooooo. Abs faulty.
On the PCX?? You are probably one of the first ones to get the ABS model. Very little is known about it since all past models have been CBS (Combined Braking System). We know that the new ABS model only has ABS in the front, but little else. Honda has some experimental models in Asia that have rear disc brakes as well, but I think most still have drum brakes in back.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150
Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Re: nooooo. Abs faulty.
Too soon to know for certain about specific problems on PCX ABS, but ABS systems on other Hondas are reliable enough, its long established tech so I reckon extremely unlikely to be gremlins.Antjp wrote:Are the abs systems bad on these machines by any chance?
I would bet real cash money that when the front wheel was fitted the speed sensor got damaged.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I’ve had a look on the loaner scooter, the sensor is so close to the wheel

Yep. It has to be so.Antjp wrote:I’ve had a look on the loaner scooter, the sensor is so close to the wheel
Shoot, ask to keep the red one!
The only proper color for a Honda.....

And can easily be clattered by the brake disc during wheel fitting?Antjp wrote:I’ve had a look on the loaner scooter, the sensor is so close to the wheel

You can see how close the abs sensor is there. Virtually skimming.

Sort of a "Win Win" situation.
You have a PCX to ride today and will get a new one soon!

Surely, the dealer understands that the ABS light doesn't turn off until you reach 6 mph (10 km/h) and will flash if the rear wheel is allowed to turn while lifted off the ground (such as can happen when the scooter is started while on the center stand).Antjp wrote:I was suppose to be picking up my pcx today brand new. At least here in the US, ABS-equipped models are relatively rare.

Correct… The sales guy that was selling me my xmax, called me before delivery and said that the ABS light was on after he started it… Said he was going to have service look at it… I told him that it goes out at 6 miles an hour, he was surprised… And obviously ignorant…

Re: nooooo. Abs faulty.
When my Burgman 400 was delivered from dealer 97miles distant, I fired it up and saw my first ABS light. Delivery driver called the dealer..."goes off after it starts moving!"
We both laughed, and I signed his paperwork.
(he nearly dtopped that 489lb scooter taking it out of his enclosed trailer!)

I can’t believe my brand new scooters ABS is still out of action. I’m still using the loaner scooter meanwhile, I’m going to have to take it in for it’s 600 miles service very soon.

Re: nooooo. Abs faulty.
In light of the previous posts, are you SURE it's actually defective and it's not just operational ignorance on behalf of the dealer?Antjp wrote:I can’t believe my brand new scooters ABS is still out of action. Also, look at the bright side - you're putting miles on THEIR scooter and not yours.

Re: nooooo. Abs faulty.
If it really is defective rather than dealer not know what they are talking about (doubtful as by now they would have enquired) I'd ask for my money back and by another bike - faulty from new and you never even took possesion of it.

Re: nooooo. Abs faulty.
On this loaner scooter, the front suspension feels as if it’s gone saggy. As in going half way down when it’s off the stand. I first noticed this when I left my workplace and went over a grid channel which I have to go over every time I leave or enter work. It felt very soft going over it as if my front tyre was low on air. (It wasn’t because I checked straight away). It’s strange because when I rode to work it was fine. Then suddenly leaving and took it off the stand it felt weird to make me Check the tyre was pumped up.
Any ideas on what could of happened. Cheers.
There doesn’t seem to be any sign of wet folks
