Got my PCX a naked brother
Found a good price for a used 250cc Kawasaki naked bike . It's a 1 year old bike with a 50% price reduction as Kawas depreciate faster here because Thais prefer the more common Honda or Yamaha.
The Z250SL, a 250cc single cylinder naked bike from Kawasaki.
SL stands for light weight, this bike weighs only 153 kgs. Perfect weight for smaller guys like me.
I will still keep my PCX.
btw, The ADV150 is already available in Thailand now and it's a beauty.

Excellent little bike, if they had imported the ABS version to the UK I would have had one.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I see it has disc brakes on the front and rear wheels also. ABS as well. The green paint on the frame and panel accents really compliments the overall appearance. Good choice.
Congrats on your new Kawasaki.

Re: Got my PCX a naked brother
Thanks guys..
@whitenoise
I got it for approx $1800. The seller I bought it from got it from a bank auction on a much cheaper price.
ABS is one of the main reason I bought it. It's probably the cheapest 250cc with an ABS. I almost actually got a twin cylinder MT03 Yamaha for a little bit more, but it was a 2015 model so I decided to get the Kawa as it looks bnew.
Also, I didnt get to ride the new ADV yet as I've only seen it from social media posts of Thais who are raving about it. I have yet to see one on the road though.
correction: SL stands for super light

Re: Got my PCX a naked brother
Look how small it is considering I'm only around 70kgs. Probably not suited for taller and bigger non-Asians.
Didn't get the chance to ride it longer yet as we are still working on its papers..

Re: Got my PCX a naked brother
My old Suzuki T250 X6 Hustler probably wasn't any bigger but it had a flat seat so taller riders could have room to move around. It was a 2-stroke twin cylinder. The thing was fast.
There's a lot to be said for the 250/300cc machines and being a Kawasaki you should have no problem finding parts for it. Enjoy the miles . . . but I'm not sure how useful that paper bag will be at high speed.

Re: Got my PCX a naked brother
Hah!
Don't want to be caught sitting on a bike without a helmet, the paper bag did its job well.
Did ride the bike to work yesterday, the lack of wind protection made me feel so exposed; need more time getting used to it.
The engine is a smooth revving one, and the power is there all the time. You'll be running above 100kph before you even noticed it, feels stable at high speed though Iv'e only taken it at around 120kph for a brief moment.
The ABS is a dream to use, reassuring instant bite without locking.
Oh boy, I missed the windscreen and the extra large storage of the PCX though! Now I don't have anywhere to put my helmet, my work bag and gym bag. LOL
A givi box could help, but I'm thinking it doesnt suit the naked bike's look.

Perhaps some sport packs/saddle bags? Givi makes a wide variety of onboard storage options.Oh boy, I missed the windscreen and the extra large storage of the PCX though! Now I don't have anywhere to put my helmet, my work bag and gym bag. LOL

For the helmet, just use the helmet lock . . . you have one right? Most motorcycles do but in different locations depending. Awkward in the rain though . . ..
There's also the tank bag or tail bag option as well.
Whatever you choose it's got to be secured in a way that it won't interfere with the rear wheel . . . but you already knew that. This is just a sample of what I've seen out there but again you'll need to shop around to get what fits your situation.

Now the fun starts getting "stuff" for the new bike.
I used to have my Suzuki GSF1200S set up like this.

Re: Got my PCX a naked brother
I hate the fact that we can't stop finding things that we need for our bikes. I now feel like I need (not want) a radiator cover, a gear shifter rubber, a better mud guard, a windscreen, a tail bag, etc, etc, etc, etc.. Dang

Re: Got my PCX a naked brother
When I had the SV650 I used one of these slung across my shoulder with the strap length set so that the bag sat on the pillion seat.
Not ideal but did the job.

Have you seen the size of a 250SL, even for a 125 they're small.
Unlike your Bulldog which is huge.

Re: Got my PCX a naked brother
You've got a couple of great rides there!
BTW I use chain wax rather than the more traditional chain lube now on my bikes. It's easier to clean off but you have to use it more often. I'm still finding the older gunky kind of chain lube in the crevices of the frames and engines plus the "fling" permanently stained the underside of one of my sport packs (soft luggage).
This is what I use now . . .. One other note to add is that if you get any overspray on your rear wheel/rim you'll find it cleans up easier when you wipe it off . . . especially if you use a rag with a little car wax on it. If the wheel rim is "gritty" wash it first though to avoid scratching it.

I had a Kawasaki Ninja years ago. Very reliable . . ..
