Acceleration test

I know this forum is not all about performance and more commuter centric. I come from a very performance oriented background and still work in the industry. I had hopes for this PCX to accelerate as fast as possible not so much top speed. Just wanted to compare Apples to Apples.

Would be cool to compare 0-40MPH times. I use the TRC app that gives you MPH, and even digital 1/4mile times and so on. Who wants to play? Fill in the blanks and post screenshots of what you got.

I 'd like to see acceleration results.

I read your post too late and didn't do a before and after. I was running the OEM variator with the NCY outer face. The NCY variator inner bore went out of spec, allowing for too much play that resulted in slugish acceleration due to binding of the variator with the boss.

My top speed now is 64 MPH. I had Dr. Pulley before and now I have a mix of round weights. Belt is within spec.


Boss: Kitaco Power up Pulley boss
Variator: MFR
Driveface: MFR
Weight style and size: three 11g and three 15g
Intake:stock
Exhaust:MFR
Belt:stock
Tires: Michelin city grip
Clutch: SH100 clutch I think.

My top speed with the NCY and DR.pulley 13g weights before was ~71 MPH. I didn't use the Dr. Pulley weights because they looked worn out, but I might just try them out again.

Cool results Gil. Was curious how stock variator would stack up.

Yeah, Much more dangerous to attempt this as opposed to 0-40 acceleration. Plus Rider Experience plays a big roll as well.

Like Drag racing with and without radials. lol

Changed the weights to 11g, when I open the cvt to see if the variator was moving the belt all the way out. It looks like the MFR kit was fully closed, but wasn't pushing the belt all the way out, bummer. With the 11 gram weights the top speed was now 66 mph, I think the same as before with the exception of the engine rev limit feel. One question though, do you guys add grease to the boss?

Acceleration did feel better though. So, with the top speed of 66 and good acceleration I'm gonna leave the 11 gram weights in. I did purchase the Kitaco gear up kit that adds 3 mph more, but will do that when the rear tire needs changing.

It definitely has a lot to do with how you launch her, but mine has always screamed off the line. It's stays in it's power band all the way to 8300rpm's then runs out of power to go faster than 65-70 unless there's now wind or I'm drafting. For a 150 I don't think you could ask or expect anymore. On the rural highways of Iowa it's a good as any motorcycle and way easier to ride.

Just curious Vamoon. Looking at your chart would lead me to believe you accelerated from 5-40mph in around a second? Wonder why its so different from Gils and mine.

Felt like the front wheel was going to come off the ground. Could be a fluke, or luck, or just perfect timing. Don't know for sure, but it felt really awesome.

Something wrong with your graphs compared to the orginals - at least with Gil's. The original post shows 40 at around 6.5x, your graoh shows 40 reached at around 7.5x? (it would not let me quote >4 times so I edited away so quotes - now the three graphs do not show so you will need to scroll up a bit)

I tried using the app... Set it for 0 to 40 mph.. Hit start twice... Locked into GPS... Ready... GO!!

Then I get to 60 mph and nothing happens. No "races" stored in the history. Nada. What am I doing wrong?
