2019 PCX ignition

Hello fellow PCX riders.
I just bought a 2019 PCX and I was surprised to see that the key turns could turn in the ignition only if you put it in 1 way. Meaning, it is acting as if it was not a double-sided key. I know on my previous 2013 and 2015 PCX, I could insert the key either way into the ignition without even looking, but on this 2019 I have to insert it in a specific way for it to turn. Is that a new security feature, or is mine defected?

Is your key notched on both sides? If yes..... Probably a defect. Maybe someone with a 2019 will come along and chime in.

Just been out to the garage to check my key in my scooter . My key works both ways , with the hex lock up & down position. The key itself is notched on both sides so I guess it can be used both ways . Also checked my spare key is the same . Try your mail dealer , he might be able to get a new key cut for you . Your steering lock should still work ok I think?

Is there a spare key and does it do it with that?

The top half should be cut like a mirror image of the bottom half. At least it is on my 2020 PCX150.
