Getting to replace HS5 12V 35/30 headlight bulbs on my PCX. Was wondering if it possible to upgrade the HS5 with an LED bulb. It would be brighter. Is it a good idea?

Re: Upgrading headlight bulbs to LED
Good luck finding LED bulbs that have the watts you need (35/30W). Any higher than that will fry your system. Every website I have looked on no longer has them, except one, which must have purchased the remaining lot and requires orders to be 200 pieces minimum.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150
Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Re: Upgrading headlight bulbs to LED
I'm with Mel46, there is no direct replacement for the Halogen bulb, so the light pattern will never be right and they will give lots of light glare to oncoming drivers. I had LED bulbs on my scoot for a while, but took them out because they used too many watts and the light pattern was never right. I ultimately added LED auxiliary lights for night riding and daytime running lights, when on two lane roads.

Thanks for the info on the LED bulbs. I'll definitely stay with the Halogen. I appreciate your opinions. --Oldtimer79

Getting back to the HS5 12V35/30W bulb, what would be the best and brightest replacement bulb to use?
