Hobart Scooter club ride

Post by Taz »

Went for a day trip today with the local club. Was planning on taking videos but had finger trouble using my little camera and none came out. Here are some stills:

Started out in town near the docks. There is a wooden boat festival on (every 2 years). Here is a nice old (15th century) Portuguese Caravelle.

We drove up the local mountain (about 4200 feet high). Here is a stop about 1/3 way up.

And here we are at the summit. A bit of drizzle on the way up and only 4 degrees C at the top so didnt stay long as only had summer gear on!

We stopped for Blackberries on the way down. Yum.

And finished up with fish chips and coffee at one of the beaches on the river. Tomorrow I have a sailing race; I love summer so pity you poor folk in the northern hemisphere :D

Looks great. Is the Portugese boat original?

Weather is getting better here, well the rain is getting warmer.

No its a replica. Has a nice tarred look though. Have postponed my usual April UK biz trip to later in the year hopefully for summer there, winter here ;)

I see you have members with old Vespas. What are those Vespas by model? I guess maybe a Rally or a GL/GS.
I have learned from my mistakes, and I am sure I can repeat them exactly.

Dont know the vespa models but that little Peugeot was a 100cc air cooled and left me for dead, though the rider was 1/2 my weight. Also a Piaggio X7 350 which was nice.

We never get snow here, except the top of the mountain in winter. So its our choice if we want to go and see/play in it. So florida sounds nice!

>> TheBoyBilly, you have a good memory. Miss? YES!
Riding time is all the time in Florida, except now (Feb). The temps are dipping there, so a lot of bikes are undercover getting spruced up for March > onward. Owners are so proud of their rides.....and it Shows!!
>> you you, No. "is white snow?" Turn it around. Although, I have to say it's looking mighty pooey right about now :D
>> Taz, lucky guy you are. You can visit cold and then escape it all in a days ride. If you like warm/hot weather, Florida is the place for you. BIG bugs though o_O Splat! Must wear a FF

weather is on TV now...............Crap!!! More "white snow"!!
Note to Self: Check airfares :geek:

We did a day trip today to the pub at Dunalley near where we had big bushfires last month. Supporting the local economy and getting some pics and vids.

Here is a brief vid of riding in company with other bikes and scooters today:

<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/59828675" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

And here are some shots on same ride of bushfire damage:

<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/59829619" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

Lovely day 31 degrees C and 16 scooters and bikes.

Here we are before setting out:

At Dunalley Jetty:

There's no Vimeo embedding, since HTML is disabled to prevent malicious redirects. You can embed Youtube though, or just post the links like you did. :)

That bushfire damage was horrendous. I hope all those people had good home insurance.
