How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
First of all, I'm confused.. I bought my Honda PCX JF28E-13XXXXX this year and the seller(previous owner) has told me this is 2013 version, but to be honest, I have been struggling for months now to find out which year bike model this belonged to.. The drive belt part number is 23100-KWN-7110-M1 Honda Bando and PLATE COMP., DRIVE says KWNJ7100-0606613 Drive Face and Face Comp., Movable only says "KZR".. Above parts seems like Japanese but still can't even find on Google, since I want to replace some parts, don't know which year model's parts to buy.. Is there any specific way to determine the made year of this? Thank you very much!

Re: How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
Here are some clues as to what year model it is.
First look for any identification plates that might give you a clue. In the United States it is on the outside of the bike on the opposite side as the glove box.
1. If it does NOT have led lights it would have been manufactured prior to 2015.
2. Prior to 2015 the front side panel looked like an open ' >'. From 2015 on the it was closed.
(On the 2013 model sent to the United States the bike came with stalk turn signals where the open area was. I will include a picture if I can find one.)
3. Many of the 2011 panels would fit a 2013 model. For 2015 everything was different. The 2014 model was an odd bike in that it was a 2013 model with LED lights.
My 2013 model. Note the open sideways "V" on the front left panel. After 2014 it was closed up.
I hope this helps you. Here is a 2018 model. Note the closed V front.

In case you are not sure what I am referring to when I mention the closed V, here is a picture of the 2018 in which I drew an arrow to the area. I hope this clarifies things better.
By the way, my drive belt part number is different from yours. Of course, mine is a 150cc and I am not sure what yours is. Here is a picture of mine. I can't find any references to the part number you gave, though.

Re: How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
Thank you very much for the information, actually I was wondering if mine was older than the 2013 model.. It has that V you are talking, anyway I almost forgot about this post and ordered 2013 parts from Bikerzbits last night..
Mine is either 2012/3, I can't tell it apart.. It seems both these models use the same parts so far.. and mine is a 125cc.. I have checked the belt number for these models and it is 23100-KWN-711 it seems like they don't read the last digit however :/ I thought there could be a specific way to figure out the models apart, such as 2012 and 2013 models since they are identical also uses the same air cleaner which I thought 2012 model uses the old one which is in 2011 model.

Re: How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
There were some minor changes between the 2011 and the 2013 model, and the 2012 model was not sold in the United States. I am going to guess that the 2012 model was an odd duck in that it may have had some of the later changes, but it was basically a 2011. One example of the changes made to the 2013 model over the 2011 was in the gas cap cover. On the 2011 model it flips toward the seat, whereas on the 2013 model it flip away from the seat. Otherwise many of the panels from the 2011 model fit the 2013 model. Also, and this may help you, the 2013 model was introduced here in June of 2012 as a 2013 model. Many countries use the manufacture date. Yours may too. Sorry that I can't be of better assistance

I am guessing that his next question is where is the bin number located on his bike. Remember that he is in Sri Lanka.

Re: How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
It's not a 2011 however, because that version uses the old Air Cleaner/Filter, and yeah my gas cap also flips away from the seat.. I think 2013 model is 2012 but just simply different VIN number, nothing other than that?mel46 wrote:There were some minor changes between the 2011 and the 2013 model, and the 2012 model was not sold in the United States. Yeah, that's the website I use to find my part numbers before I order from Bikerzbits.. I added more than 3 PCX to check parts before I order.. PCX 2013 JP and EU, and also 2012 JP model.. so far they are the same..mel46 wrote:I thought you might be interested in this link that I just found. It might be the clue that you are looking for. So mine is 2012 it seems? :O It is JF28 :/ Damn it! I spent around $2600 to buy this used scooter lol however '13 WW 125 EX 2 - E JF 28-1300001 ~ There is only one reference all over the internet which says, that JF 28E from 1300001 onwards are 2013 model.. I have saved those information in a word file, just couldn't find the original link which was in Japanese.. They explained some VIN numbers, but I don't know if they are true..gn2 wrote:Year of manufacture is found in the VIN.
https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/ ... tification
'10 WW 125 EX 2 - A JF 28-1000001 to 1099999
'12 WW 125 EX 2 -C JF 28-1100001 to 1199999
'13 WW 125 EX 2 - D JF 28 - 1200001 - 1299999 SPECIAL EDITION
'13 WW 125 EX 2 - E JF 28-1300001 ~
'12 WW 150 C KF 12-1000001 to 1099999
'13 WW 150 D KF 12-1100001 to 1199999
'13 WW 150 E KF12-1200001 ~
However whenever I search WW125EX2E, it is recognized as 2014 :/ just like in this website.. https://www.bike-parts-honda.com/honda- ... 2014/15469
I think I should stop worrying about the year it was made of...

Re: How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
Does that supposed to mean that we are stupid or something? I actually was wondering about my VIN number since everyone had some characters before their VIN numbers, but mine has only JF28-13XXXXXX, no characters before that.. That's why I was wondering where the hell that specific VIN number they are talking about? and this is my first motorcycle/scooter.. I'm a gamer/nerd/ and I was a graphic designer/web designer/video editor/ blah blah blahMel46 wrote:I am guessing that his next question is where is the bin number located on his bike. Re: How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
VIN and part numbers usually refer to year of manufacture.
The whole thing gets confused by the american model year stupidity.
They get a bit ahead of themselves and for example call a scooter made in 2013 a 2014 model.

Re: How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
DushFernando92,
I was not implying anything by that, I am simply pointing out that the vin number is universally put somewhere on the bikes, but also are required to be very visible on the models going to the United States, so we have a plate attached to the right front panel close to knee level where everything is in big letters. Other scooter brands have their plate below the front of the seat.
In Sri Lanka there may or may not be a different requirement. If there is none then you would probably be using the numbering stamped somewhere. Since I don't have the slightest idea where that other place might be, I thought that it MIGHT be possible that you didn't either. Sorry if it came across as other than that.

My "Chassis number" is engraved on the flat metal surface under the seat, near the latch. It begins with 'MLHKF' like Mel's. The model year identifier is the 10th character. Mine is an 'F' which means 2015. A 2013 should get you a 'D'.

Re: How do I find which year Honda PCX I own?
It's okay, It was my misunderstanding.. actually I have 2 VIN numbers, one is engraved on the metal part under the seat and the other one is also engraved on the metal part belong to the engine which is close to the left crankcase.. Anyway, here we don't officially get Honda PCX to our country, so there is no specific identity to a bike, unless we know the person who brought the bike to this country.. Sadly non of the VIN numbers have any identity at all other than saying it was made by Fuji Heavy Industries (They make Subaru but not Honda), which sounds suspicious to me, as it says the type of the vehicle is Multi-Purpose Vehicle and I feel like this bike is totally a fake lol xD I mean at least this VIN number #confused..Mel46 wrote:DushFernando92,

Actually mine doesn't say "D" anywhere, on the left crankcase it also says only JF28E-13XXXXX, under the seat, it is just JF28-13XXXXX.. That's all sadly..raito wrote:My "Chassis number" is engraved on the flat metal surface under the seat, near the latch. It begins with 'MLHKF' like Mel's.
