How long you been riding?
I’ve been a little surprised at the number of “mature” riders who are swelling the ranks of scooter owners for the first time.
Sorta made me curious how much experience/inexperience we have here.
At what age did you buy your first bike?
How many years have you actively ridden?
How old are you now?
Last March I bought my first bike, a 50cc Chinese scooter.
In August bought my PCX150.
I turned 53 this week. (You’d say I was only 13 if you knew which day)

Re: How long you been riding?
I got my first bike, a Honda Nova Tena two-stroke 110cc (actually 105cc) in 1998. I was 32 at the time and living in Thailand for a while. Very soon I changed that for a Kawasaki GTO 125.
I learned to ride here in Thailand. At first, I had no driver's licence, but as soon as I returned home to my native Finland I went through the necessary training and red tape and got myself one. Then I bought a bigger bike, a Kawasaki W650.
My first real scooter was a Vespa PX 200 in 2001. Later I've had numerous bikes and scooters -- at one time all seven of them. I now have a Honda Shadow VT750 RS, a Kawasaki W650, a Honda SH300 and an unridden Vespa PX 200 still in the manufacturer's crate.
I've gone through most of Honda's line of scooters available in Finland: Lead 100, Lead 110, PS 125, SH300, Zoomer 50. Here in Thailand I have a PCX 150 and a Honda Wave 100. I'm 46 years old now.

I have learned from my mistakes, and I am sure I can repeat them exactly.

Re: How long you been riding?
First rode a PTW at age 15, bought my first bike at 17, had a gap of 16 years while my son was growing up and I'm 51 now.
Have ridden extensively throughout the UK and done some long tours round Europe.
Traded a 900 Triumph for my PCX.
Will be selling the PCX within the next 12 months, it's just not fast enough for my current requirements.

How long you been riding?
I had a 1973 Honda C70 in yellow when I was 17. I only had it for a year before it went bang and I passed my car test. I got my PCX 2 years ago when I was 42. It's only really for commuting and don't really use it much at weekends.

Re: How long you been riding?
Me too, I only use if to get to and from work, can't remember the last time I used it for anything else.Alibally wrote:It's only really for commuting and don't really use it much at weekends.

Re: How long you been riding?
I probably started on a Honda 50 and 70 around the ripe age of 8. I just turned 52 today and have pretty much always had some type of motorcyle. I sold my Harley two years ago for some health related issues that are getting better so I bought a PCX as it is much lighter and easier to ride. And I really need two wheels to be whole again..

Re: How long you been riding?
I bought my first bike at 17, a Harley Davidson XLCH. I have ridden off and on ever since then. I have had multiple bikes in my lifetime. I even raced them for a short time but quickly realized that I was dangerous but not crazy, so I gave up the racing for just pleasure riding. I am now 66. I decided last year that riding a scooter was about as wild as I want to get any more, especially after 5 back surgeries.
Currently own:

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn

Re: How long you been riding?
I started off on a POS 50cc chinese scooter back in July of 2011 (I was 29), quickly followed by a 150 chinese scooter and then a 250...all within about 3 weeks of eachother. I was pretty satisfied with the 250 (Puma Apollo, just another no-name chinese brand) until I started joining local scooter clubs and was introduced to REAL scooters. It also wasn't very long until I started having electrical and mechanical problems with the Puma. After going from a complete scooter noob on a chino-scoot to being fairly scooter saavy (thanks to the many knowledgeable and patient members of the scooter clubs), I bought my Burgman 650 in December of 2011 and have since ridden nearly 12,000 miles of smiles. I LOVED the Burgman, but I later found myself missing the lighter weight and handling of a smaller bike for around town and group rides with one of the local scooter clubs that consisted of a lot of 50-150cc scooters...so along came the Honda PCX.

I did my CBT in 2008 and my first bike was a Honda CH125, Quickly followed by a CG125 Replica,
then i took my test and had a Honda CH250 for 6months or so before getting a Honda NTV650 and a PCX125.

Re: How long you been riding?
I bought a 1986 Honda Elite 250 for $500 in 2007. Last year I decided to "graduate" to a motorcycle and bought a used Kawasaki Ninja 500.
I am selling the Ninja and buying a PCX-150 next month. I have realized that my enjoyment of riding has nothing to do with shifting gears, managing a clutch and having to oil a chain every 400 miles.
My old scooter was given to my father in law as a birthday present with free maintenance for life, so it is still in the family.
I turn 50 this year.

Re: How long you been riding?
Got my first bike, a Honda Aero 50 at age 51. Got my motorcycle license and a Honda Elite 110 a few months after that. Got my PCX150 at age 52. I'm 52 now. I used to ride as a passenger on my husband's motorcycle, but like riding my own bike a lot better.

Started with a Honda Elite 110 in June 2011. Got the PCX 125 in Dec 2011. Got the Silverwing around fall of 2012. Got the Silverwing up for sale now. I am 30 years old as of now.
I would like to get something more mid-size. Hopefully we in the USA are next for the Forza. It's already out in Canada.
