Added Yumanashi’s new variator & Dr Pulley sliders (2022 PCX 160)

Hello, I wanted to offer some feedback on Yumanashi’s performance variator kit, specifically designed for the 2021 - 2024 PCX 125 & PCX 160 & ADV 160. It is of similar size to the larger stock variator & drive face found on the 2021 + model, it is 126.7mm.

I installed it on my US spec 2022 Honda PCX (156.9cc). The kit comes standard with 6X 10 gram rollers. I suspected this would be too light, but I tried it out anyways. It was nearly over revving the engine, causing the bike to make an unpleasant sound and vibration when accelerating. I tested it out in the highway. Originally my PCX, on a flat stretch of highway (not drafting) tucked down, would do 69 mph. With the kit, I hit 73 mph. Acceleration felt slightly better.

I added 13 gram Dr pulley sliders. This made my engine sound and run smoother. Acceleration felt improved, vs stock and vs 10 gram rollers. Top speed, on the same stretch of highway was now 76 mph. Speeds are all according to the speedo. The bike is much more competent on my occasional highway rides now. I also have Givi’s mid sized windshield, along with hand guards and side wind guards. Update after a bit more than 1000 miles. My PCX has been running beautifully, no problems at all. I’ve seen 77 mph now for the top speed. It feels like some sort of restriction is in place at 76 mph. I feel the throttle backing off there.

Thats great speed for just a Variator and weights. Thats wild that the variator came with 10g weights. Thats very light. Stock I believe are 16-19g?

Get a tach so you can see how the RPMs move around then you can really fine tune the weights. Also, test out the speedo Vs a GPS on your phone. Gives you a good idea if the speedo is accurate or not. It's amazing how much of a difference it makes if your rear tire is over/under inflated. Couple PSI too low and your speedo will read high.

That feeling you get of the throttle "backing off" is your rev limiter.

The variator is designed for both the PCX 125 & 160, so I believe the 10 gram rollers are generally geared towards the 125. Thanks for the suggestions. I also own a Honda Ruckus and have tuned it a fair amount. So I am familiar with the concept. I’m happy with the variator and the sliders I have in it. If anything, a larger gear would probably be the most beneficial for me.
