Looking for Advice on Honda PCX Maintenance Tips for a New Owner

Post by smithhhna »

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and recently became the proud owner of a Honda PCX I absolutely love it but since this is my first scooter I am a bit unsure about how to keep it in top condition. I would appreciate any advice from experienced owners on basic maintenance tips. Specifically I would like to know:

How often should I change the oil and what type do you recommend.
Any tips for keeping the brakes and tires in good shape.
Are there common issues with the PCX that I should be aware of.

I also read this topic on this site https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/zb7a7p/oil_change_help_golang/ but I could not find anything relevant.
I am looking to do some of the basic maintenance myself to save costs but I want to make sure I am doing it right. Thanks in advance for your help

Looking forward to hearing your tips.

Best regards,
[Smith]

You really can't go wrong by following Honda's maintenance recommendations, so far as mileage/time, when and what needs to be done, and specs on all fluids they recommend.
The link below allows you to plug in your bike's year/model to download a free PDF of its Owner's Manual. It contains a wealth of information on how and when to perform maintenance. If you take the time to read it thoroughly, you'll learn a lot of things about the PCX you didn't know and will eventually need. You may decide you also need a Service Manual for your bike, but the Owner's Manual will get you started.

Keep it simple. Don't overthink it.

Change the oil every 2-3k miles.

Change the trans fluid every 5k miles.

Change the belt and rollers every 5k miles.

Use normal engine oil, not motorcycle oil. 10w-30.

Oil change interval is 4000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first
Final drive oil change interval is two years
Belt and rollers every 12000 miles
Basically if you’re doing less than 4000 miles a year you only need to do any maintenance once a year.
Keep it clean, wipe the chrome fork stanchions with an oily rag once a week, spray white grease into the stand pivots regularly, check/adjust the tyre pressures once a month and you’ll be fine.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong
