After a very wet month, got to ride my PCX125 today. It's been stored outside, under a cover. Only to find that what I assume are mice have eaten the SEL and SET buttons on the dash. See pics below.

Questions: Why on earth would they have been eaten? What's in the plastic that makes it attractive? Is this common? And how do I stop it happening again? As far as I can see, all the other electrics etc are working fine.
Secondly, what do I need to strip down to get access to these parts to replace them? Any pointers much appreciated!.
TIA
Chris

Re: Mouse damage
It's not unusual for mice to gnaw on the insulation around wiring components, but this is the first time I've seen other rubber parts damaged.
The PCX125 isn't sold in the US, so I have no access to a vendor's OEM Honda parts schematic to see if those rubber covers are available.
My guess is they're part of the cover itself and not available separately... but that's all it is, a guess.
I found several How-to videos removing panels around the meter assembly, none as good as I suspect are available, so I didn't copy the links.
Do an engine search on how-to remove the speedometer assembly and find one you feel is beneficial.
Good Luck.

Re: Mouse damage
Thanks for the reply. Didn't realise the 125 was not sold in the US! From what I can see, the buttons are an integral part of the speedometer assembly. I can get a second hand one for around $100, which seems a lot to repair a relatively small issue. But the resale value will be affected when I come to sell it. The speedo unit vendors ( a breakers yard) suggest that I'd also need to re-programmes the unit to the bike, presumably to reflect the mileage of my bike as opposed to the replacement speedo. Which all sounds alike a lot of hassle. How easy is this reprogramming - anyone any experience of replacing a speedo cluster? I suspect the issues will be similar on the 150, even if the exact process is slightly different.

Re: Mouse damage
Those were my thoughts too. The procedure may well be the same for the US models, but I've no idea where to get it reprogrammed other than a Honda dealership. Maybe someone else is more knowledgeable and savvier that me.
