Stator

Post by Amch »

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my Honda PCX and I was wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar or can offer some advice.

My PCX won't start normally, but I managed to get it running by manually turning the crankshaft. The battery is fine (reading 12.2 V), and I can hear the relay clicking, but the electric starter doesn't seem to work properly. I'm wondering if it's an issue with the ACG starter, the stator, or something else.

Has anyone had this problem before? Any repair tips, advice, or video tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I uploaded a video on Vimeo, and I'd like to share the link with you. Please take a look and let me know if you can identify the problem.

You may have a bad starter, but before you start replacing expensive electrical components, that can't be returned after out-of-the-box, have a qualified shop or parts store, do a "load test" on the battery to verify the battery's condition.
A defective battery can read 12.2V when idle, but quickly drop below 10Vs when 'under load' (like trying to turn over the starter).
The starter relay will also "click" when the voltage is too low, or when there is a loose connection at the relay or battery.
Either way, if it's the OEM for your 2019 model, it's already on borrowed time.
Good Luck.

What Voltage are you getting while you are pushing the start button? Is the kill switch on the run position?

Do you have the battery on a tender? Has the battery ever went dead? (Its very common that once these batteries go dead once, they are trash and need to be replaced.)
