Hate to say i glued my switch down in the first week of owning it, wouldnt think to tell the next owner i had done it either!

all the idle switch does it tell the bike that there is somone on it in idle-stop mode, so the engine cuts out, then if you get off the bike the idle -stop remains on for about 2 mins, at that time the engine will cut off completely.
general rule, if the orange light is blinking the engine is still active and turning the throttle will cause the bike to go.

Specific hip protectors for simpletons is a good idea but may be a bit niche
