Finally I've worked out why the hump keeps producing water, the stitching has come away at the front where the water collects, this put the sponge part in direct contact with the water and its been soaking it up for months!
If it ever dries out then it'll need to be sealed up, after that some self setting rubber between hump and seat should finally make it watertight....hopefully.

I would just go the whole hog unless you really like the hump and just have a hump-ectomy and get the seat recovered.

I would go for the full hump-ectomy but I quite like the look of the hump and also the fact that you cant slide back....not to mention the cost too!

I think it's about time Honda addressed this issue. For me the hump is not a problem as far as my seating position but I don't like the water egress. It can't do the seat a lot of good being constantly damp. I think applying sealant would only work for a very short time too as constant movement of the rider will soon pull everything adrift.

The seat cover is a good idea but I'd prefer to waterproof it, I'm fairly confident of sealing the seat with sugru (sugru.com) its a waterproof self setting rubber with some 'give', also heat and cold proof.

I've used sugru before, it's really cool stuff. It'd be hard to seal the seat with it and make it look good though.

Yeah you cant really practice with it, 30 mins play time before it sets 
what i did was take the hump off and put one continuous bead of sugru inside the perimeter of the hump, then put the hump back on screwing firmly into place so it creates a watertight seal....you can see it sticking out a little in places but only if you look closely.
You could also smear the sugru around the edge as if you were grouting some tiles.
whatever the case i'm happy with it.
