2023 PCX PUIG V-Tech touring review.

Post by sc00ter »

I ordered a PUIG V-Tech touring for my 2023 PCX and this is my short review. I purchased a light smoke V-Tech. It looks really good on the scooter and fits with no rattle or creaking. Was easy to install (except that dumb panel around the base of the windscreen, it kicked my butt) and uses no extra brackets. Now for the ride review part.

I'm 5'10" with a 30" inseam and the wind clips the top of my helmet above 40mph. I have a Schuberth C3 Pro helmet and normally its very quiet but the wind that clips the top makes the helmet loud inside. I don't hate the PUIG but at the same time I'm not impressed with it, at least the noise and wind chop.

It sorta blocks the wind from your hands if I keep them as inside of the grips as possible. Any movement away from the flanges of the grips and your outer fingers start getting blasted. Again, not very impressed.

Crosswinds don't grab the PUIG and push it around. The windscreen is very stable in windy conditions.

There is no distortion looking thru the windscreen that will cause you to miss any road hazards.

The PUIG is easy to clean (I use PLexus cleaner) and you can easily get in to all the nooks and crannies.

Haven't been stuck in the rain yet so I'll do a follow up when the inevitable happens.

PUIG uses a "Virtual wind tunnel" to tune their windscreens. I think they need to update their computers to at least Windows 9 for better results.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being awesome:

Wind/turbulence control while moving: Strong 5.
Looks and fit and finish: Flat 8. It looks a bit funny at the bottom.
Rain protection: N/A Will update later.
Price value vs. National brand: 9 All "known" brands are the same price range.
Hand protection: 7 if you keep your hands close to the inside.
Cross wind control: 9 It's been super windy here lately.

Any questions ask away. I'll get pictures up later.

Pictures of the windscreen and rear box would be great... (The case's mounting bracket with and without case, please).
Thanks for the reviews.

That looks good. I like the size. How well does it work and do those lower sweeping wings provide any wind deflection off the hands?

I'll get pics up this weekend but I purchased the PUIG clip-on windshield extender (large size) and finally got it installed. I couldn't take the wind turbulence clipping the top my helmet anymore. The extender was $114 (?) on Revzilla and I applied some of my Zilla cash towards it. Pictures and detailed review to come.

Got rained on,or actually dumped on, last night coming home from work. So I'll update rain control.

Frontal protection is a strong 8 out of 10. My fat butt broke the Plastic zipper on my old Alpinestars rain jacket so I had to ride home with it unzipped and I stayed pretty dry from the front. Other thing to note: the rain slid up the windscreen and shot OVER my helmet. So in the rain the PUIG does a good job.

I still need to post pictures of the extension lip but the lip amplifies the squeaking of the PUIG. The PUIG starting squeaking after a 100 miles (currently at 750 miles) and I think, because the lip is mounted at the highest point of the screen, it causes a leverage affect. Both the PUIG and its optional lip are still worth the trouble as the work pretty good when combined to control the wind blast over the top of my helmet. Again, I'm 5'10"/30" inseam (I sweat I'm shrinking as I get older!).

Finally, it was SUPER WINDY coming home and the 30+ mph crosswinds didn't affect the handling of the PCX.

I'll try to get the updated pictures up this weekend. I have a fellow Android user who knows how to fix file sizes, and he'll look at my caera and see if he can realign the camera. I've been getting blurry pics since it got ran over.

Hi!! Just installed Puig VTech in med smoke. Took about an hour. So happy now. Getting trim piece back on properly is the tuff part. Here are some pictures 🙂 Getting photos posted is hardest part of job.

I also have the Puig windscreen on my 2021 PCX. I am 5'11" and get a wind blast to my face and head. Was the Puig windscreen clip on visor a noticeable improvement?

I added some rubber washers at the windshield mounting points to eliminate the squeaking.

I also have the knee deflectors which work very well. (See post below with the seat pics.)

I'll try to get pictures up of the PUIG clip-on extension this weekend. Mine is the true clip-on, size large. I think the packing also included the template (and hardware?) to drill the windscreen and hard mount it. I like the clip- on option and so far it hasn't come loose, though I'm not sure if its gonna leave any weird contact marks should I remove it. But anyways, for the price (VERY expensive for what it is) it works pretty good. I think I did a little update review of my findings but if I didn't:

I'm around 5'11"ish and weight in around 220. I'm on the OEM seat as well. You have to play around with the adjustments to find the ideal setting to get the air from hitting the top of your helmet but it can be done, and once figured out it works as advertised. I discovered a weird thing though. If I get the settings right the cross winds seem to whip up and I then get side blast. My helmet is a Schuberth C3.

Let me try and get some pictures up. I'm battling something with my phone right now. Heck, I'll just tell ya what happened. I had a DJI action cam, I think it was a 3 mini. I purchased it 2 years ago and finally unboxed it at work to set it up. The DJI action cams give you 5 "free" demos before you have to register it. So I click the QR code on the display of the camera and go to download the app. My phone told me to NOT allow the download but IF I did I had to unlock a security setting. Dumb me unlocked the block because I wanted to use my DJI. The app totally jacked my phone up! I'm a Android guy and the app was just malicious! I smashed the action cam with a hammer and tossed it in the trash, where DJI products belong, and had to go thru the long process of purging the app from my phone! I still find traces of it when trying to open certain apps or permissions. Crappy products from a crappy company is how I see DJI now. GoPro isn't much better as you have to pay a subscription to use their product. I might try a Insta360 next.
