New 2025 PCX slow?

Post by ahulleman »

Good evening everyone,

So as of yesterday i am a proud owner of a brand new 2025 125cc PCX.
After riding it yesterday and today for a good 120 miles i have a bit of a concern..
I've ridden PCX's for almost a decade but never actually bought one brand new.

My last PCX (2017 model) would do very comfortably 56/60MPH..
Whereas my new 2025 model, seems to be struggling reaching the 50MPH mark..

Now granted I am not the smallest nor lightest of hoomans in the world (a "healthy" 20 stone and 6'5 ft)
but i do feel the new PCX is lacking on the speed.
I was just wondering if this is something more people find too or whether its just my large rear end holding the bike back or something possibly mechanical?

Any opinions/suggestions appreciated!
I am not crazy. Crazy people don't know they are crazy, whereas I know I am crazy, so therefor I am not crazy! :ugeek:

Give it time. It takes 400kms (250 m) for the belt to wear in.

I only have numbers for riders up to 100kgs you are 125!
But you will definitely need some varistor tuning.

Did you add your location? Asian bikes have different settings than, say,US models.

Back at my PC

If you were 100kgs you should get about 98kph or 60 mph. So that fits with your previous experience. With some variator mods or change you could easily get 65 mph. .Aerodynamics is important so as a big lad you will suffer a bit.

Give it time.

Location would be the UK
Not willing to do any mods yet as I'd like to keep the bikes warranty.
But yeah, give it some time for all the components to wear in properly.
Usually its not a biggy as i rarely exceed 40/50 anyway, but my commute does take me over a stretch of dual carriage way (minor highway with 70mph speed limits) and would like to go a bit faster for safety lol. Not fun when you have trucks right up your rear end!

It is possible that your 2017 model had 15gram weights in the variator and your 2025 version has 18 gram the same as the 150.

Maybe someone else can chip in.

Did you possibly get both your bikes from the same dealer. If so you could ask if they will fit the same weights as your 2017 model if you explain the difference you find and the fact you are 14 stone. The 2017 weights will be genuine Honda PCX parts.
