Hanging Around

Some where I saw a post by Maddidog about a camping trip to the North Georgia mountains. He mentioned spending the night in a hammock rig with the pup, listening to bears and other creatures go bump in the night.
Fans of hammock camping sometimes call it "hanging". If you go "scamping" (scooter camping), a hammock is a comfy way to sleep off the cold hard ground and away from the crawly things. They pack up compactly and don't weigh too much. Weight and volume are always considerations when camping off two wheels.
Here is a pic of my kit while on a trip to the UP of Michigan.



The Sherpa is gone, but the hammock is ready for some "scamping" outings this summer.

Looks like a nice setup, you've got a great rainfly over that hammock.

Me and a buddy of mine went camping about a month ago around the same area as my other trip, we got monsooned on -- it rained over 6 inches between us setting up camp and getting home the next morning. I've never been so soggy before.

This is the only pic I have, we scrambled to set up camp after this was taken and just finished before the rain started drenching everything.

Ooh! Rain in the mountains. Seems like you can't ever get really dry once soaked through.
I got stuck in a "Rhody Hell" during a rain shower near Lake Burton. The humidity was so high I thought mold would start growing on me before I got out!
My rig is a "Crazy Crib". The fly came with the hammock and it has hoops that support bug netting. Good sleeping.
