what to do on my week off?

Post by chainsaw »

I work away from home on a remote island in the North West of Australia. I am away from my family, friends and my toys for four weeks at a time. On my week off I find it hard to do everything i want to do but not this week! My scooter was booked in for its first service and that was a good excuse to clean out my garage and set up a "workshop". I had several boxes of scooter parts that I had ordered online waiting for me when I arrived home. I had carefully selected the parts I wanted and they all arrived quickly and efficiently bar the wrong air filter being sent. I had suspension, exhaust, transmission, braking and some Bling parts all waiting for a new home on my scoot. I stripped the scoot down almost all the way to the frame and removed the exhaust and suspension first. I was very impressed with the quality of the YSS suspension and Kitaco exhaust and on the flipside very unimpressed with the stock honda suspension. Next was the Kitaco variator, DLC pulley boss and drivebelt with some 12g Dr Pulley sliders thrown in for good measure. The Kitaco products are all extremely good quality and fit perfectly. I had tried the sliders by themselves with the stock variator and they werent really compatible, but with the rest of the Kitaco pieces in there it all came together. Top speed is only a couple of kms higher but the usable midrange is fantastic. Next was the stainless steel brakelines, again Kitaco, again perfect fit and great quality, these are being combined with a KN planning 260mm disc on my next break. The brakelines make a huge difference to braking performance and feel, plus they are shiny. I still have a few items i have saved for my next break and will post more photos then.

Thats a lot of goodies you have there! Looks like you will be busy for part of the week anyway. When you get to those foot pegs, I am curious to know what panel(s) you have to remove to get at them to take the pin out. I have some on order and will be looking to install them soon.

Wow, it looks like you are rebuilding the whole scooter. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you spend on all the upgrades? I can't wait for the pictures when you are done.

Purchase price of the scoot was $4500aud, and I've spent a more than half that on "bits" but that was always the plan. This is almost it for now and i only have a few more things to do. I am currently saving up to buy a house and once that is done I will be looking at a yuminashi 184cc kit plus their gear up kit. Pedro-agogo, the shocks were about $300 from memory(i'll have to find the receipt). I got them from cab-accessories.com mainly cause they had a couple of other things i wanted. I have yet to fine tune them but straight out of the box they make a big difference. I am matching them up with daytona front springs and heavier weight oil. I found the stock suspension to be rather lacking but I understand I am a bit larger then the target PCX customer.
