I have progressive... policy was due to expire on the 20th. I rolled it over from my piaggio fly.

I'm located in brooklyn ny. is there an aftermarket for scooters? maybe they thought it was a motorcycle. the cops said they never heard of a scoot being stolen.

I think that is rare, I'm told there is no after market interest in scooters or Harley's. Sportbikes are the top of thieves list.

It seems to me that scoots are stolen as a "crime of opportunity" since they are light enough for 2 people to throw into the back of a truck or ignitions tampered with and joy ridden around until wrecked or out of gas... At least that the case around here.
But its certainly not a rare occurrence. Some scoot forums even have a "stolen scoot" section, and my craigslist is full of "reward" for stolen scoots.

But then again, I'm talking about St Louis Mo

it was obviously someone who didn't know what they were looking for. They may have looked at the insect front-end and figured it was a sports bike.

:o musaee, that's plain awful! You filed a claim right? I have Progressive too, they're noted to be a good insurance company. Please keep us posted of how things progress (little play on words  )
Wow, that cop said that? Was he being sarcastic? The Big Apple, NY.....they scoot here, numbers are growing. Heck, NY has an aftermarket for just about "anything & everything," sadly your PCX (new at that) would not be an exception. Hard to keep things safe in a Big City, so good on you for having insurance! Good luck getting things sorted quickly and to your satisfaction ;) umm.....and a(nother) New bike! :P

SORRY for Your Loss....and I think the NY Police aren't being exactly "truthful"......Scooters even get stolen here in my "Very Rural Tennessee Area"....most are found later in Nashville, Knoxville, etc. ....there "IS" a Market...not as large as the Motorcycle Market, but does exist. Anything with a "multi-thousand dollar price tag" can be sold somewhere to someone.....!!!!!... ;)

I'm supposed to speak with an adjuster today.

I paid $4100 OTD on the bike and depending on the payout (if I lose $1000) I may or may not be able to repurchase.

My previous bike brand new 2012 piaggio fly was a lemon. after much fighting with piaggio they bought it back at about a $700 loss to myself.

I'm starting to wonder if the universe doesn't want me with a scoot.

lol at the universe is telling me to move somewhere nicer.

my neighborhood is pretty good by BK standards. and I live in a wildly congested area.

i failed to mention there was a moving truck parked outside my residence for two days. smh. it was noted by the police.

i also live adjacent to a hotel and the manager told me he's pretty sure the area I had my bike parked was under surveillance.

my dealer also told me the Forza's will be in by the end of the month...

hmmm

I'd get a trashed used bike. The more crappy it looks, the less chance it'll get stolen. ;)

I used to use that strategy with cars when I lived in Glasgow.
Didn't always work 100%, my Lada 1200 estate once got broken into, but not stolen.
