How can a 125 outperform a 150?
This is interesting. My 2011 PCX125 will reach low 60 mph & has averaged 111 mpg. My wife's 150 will only reach the same speed & averages 6-8 mpg less than mine? She is about 30 pounds heavier than me but lighter than the majority of riders on here. When we ride together, our speeds stay between 45-55 mph. I've taken them both out, opened them up, with my light frame aboard & they top out the same. Hers does have more torque & gets there quicker but won't surpass 62 mph? Do you think something is wrong or just the reasoning that no two bikes are built the same? I find this odd??

I think 28cc is a decent amount more. Our former SH150i, also 153cc would touch 68-70 with either of us. A lot of owners claim over 70 with the PCX150, one guy on another forum says his will pass the 75 mph mark, which I find really hard to believe?

When it comes to performance, a lot of people tell a lot of lies.

My 125 has reached 69 with the wind behind and downhill. Took a looooong time to get there. Its a few mph faster with the Ermax screen on than the stock screen.

Re: How can a 125 outperform a 150?
We're both happy with the speeds & mpgs. I just thought hers would be a lot faster. It definitely feels more powerful.
People do exaggerate performance & mileage. There is a PCX on Fuelly that claimed nearly 200 mpg. That is downright laughable.

I can think of reasons: brake dragging, valves not adjusted right on, one of you heavier on the throttle than the other. BUT, if I ever said on a forum that my wife outweighed me (she doesn't... not by a long stretch... really
), the bike performance would be the least of my concerns.
I like you people, but there are some things that are off the table for discussion.

Re: How can a 125 outperform a 150?
Capt Jim- Because of digestive issues, gluten intolerance etc, my kids even out weigh me & none are overweight, but you're right she wouldn't like to hear it.
I wondered about the valves, so we'll find out at 2,500 mi, I negated checks on both bikes at their 600 mi service, at my dealers opinion.
As far as consistent over 100 mpg, we ride normal, 45-55 mph, mostly in town with no high speed stretches and that's what we always get? I don't think I could get as low as 80 if I tried? My former Reflex 250 got between 72- 78 mpg. Doesn't sound right??

Is Bernie okay or off the table?

I have learned from my mistakes, and I am sure I can repeat them exactly.

When I filled up today I had done 64 miles and it took 3.75 litres.strkngfang wrote: I don't think I could get as low as 80 if I tried?
That works out at 78mpg (imperial) 65mpg (us)
Tis really easy to do, just ride at a steady 60mph.

Re: How can a 125 outperform a 150?
What I do understand from my seller is that "150" is more expensive than "125" with 100 euro, and for this amount of money i will get better accelerations. Both scooters being restricted at the same speed!

I hit the rev limiter on my 150 at about 67-68mph. I once got it over 70 going down a hill, but could never get it passed 70 again.

Re: How can a 125 outperform a 150?
Whatever others may believe about what I say on this forum is up to them, but we go on the freeway with our 150 and it DOES hit 70. With me riding my Burgman and my wife riding her 150, we regularly go on the freeway to get to some point that can not be gotten to without going on the freeway. We also get 100 mpg. None of this is an exaduration . The only things I can think of that would cause yours to go slower and get less mileage are the following: weight of the rider, miles on the bikes, terrain, and wind. Maybe our factors are just right. Who knows....in any case, the 150 is definitely freeway capable and yet it gets great gas mileage.

Re: How can a 125 outperform a 150?
I agree, Mel. No two bikes seem to perform the same under similar circumstances. I have no reason to not believe you & the people that "fudge" their mpg & speed numbers, I'm not sure what they gain?
My former 06 Silverwing never did worse than 56 mpg & usually at the 60 mark, while others stayed in the 40s? My scoots have always surpassed their rated numbers, that's what baffles me with my wife's PCX speed output??

Re: How can a 125 outperform a 150?
Is the 150 new? If it has less than 2,000 miles on it, it would not be broken in yet. Ours did better as it was driven more. We have about 4,000 miles on it now. After the last oil change it was very happy and peppy.

It was bought new Jun 29 of this year & currently only 804 miles. I was kind of thinking the same thing with such low miles??
