Nope....on a lot of Motorcycles, "YES", but why waste that "step-through" opening when it's provided.....

Because its easier to swing a leg over and doesn't scuff the tunnel.skuuter wrote:why waste that "step-through" opening when it's provided.....![]()

Leg over, but knee bent & facing forward, not leg extended crescent kick style like motorcyclists. I don't touch the tunnel. This works best with my back issues.

Leg over with a bended knee to get my foot past the top-box.
When the Mrs joins me, because she is shorter and can't lift her leg over the seat between me and the box, she steps on the right foot peg (close to the pinion) with her right foot, stands almost vertical, then slips her left leg between me and the box.

With top-box fitted I have to step thru like a girl, without topbox Sergio Leone plays in the background

Re: Poll: Are you a leg over person?
I need to be careful getting my leg over my rack when its on its main stand and I'm wearing my thick winter over trousers as sometimes I catch the rack. Not as agile as when I was younger.

Other: From behind. Running. Leap up and land in saddle, like the old Westerns. Sometimes miss. Ouch.

I also like to step thru, like a girl. But wait... I AM a girl !Scottish wrote: step thru like a girl:

just an aside question, does everyone use both rear view mirrors or do you seem to have a favorite, one that you seem to look out of all the time? for some reason, I tend to favor my right mirror.

Usually use my left mirror. Can't seem to get the right one adjusted correctly. Could also be because I use only a LH mirror on my bicycle.ScooterKim wrote:Scottish wrote: ...

Re: Poll: Are you a leg over person?
First of all, both my wife and I step thru. She for obvious reasons. Me because I have had 5 back surgeries and can't throw my leg like I use to. As for the mirrors, we use both because we ride a lot on roads that are 6 lanes.
Currently own:

I favor the right one too, but try & use both. I've never fully trusted mirrors so I do frequent head turns.

Re: Poll: Are you a leg over person?
Bash, on the mirror topic, I angle mine out more than most (I'd assume), because I want full visibility of the lane on either side of me plus seeing what's in the adjoining lanes. Meaning in my car, when I look in the left mirror, I see more of what's in the lane to the left of me than what's behind me in my lane, as that's what the rear mirror is for. So since that's what I'm used to driving, it's what I'm more comfortable with riding. A driving expert online said the side mirrors should be used to reduce the blind spot as much as possible for when you change lanes... totally different than what I was taught when I got my permit, but once I changed to this orientation, I couldn't go back. My wife hates when I reset her mirrors when I drive her van!
