Re: Yamaha Tmax
Are they really? The reason I ask is because I was considering one a few years ago to upgrade from my old Elite 250, but they went out of production recently in the US and used ones were still pretty expensive.strkngfang wrote:Nice looking but trouble prone.
Maybe I dodged a bullet by getting a PCX150 instead.

As an owner of a yellow 09, I say...strkngfang wrote:Nice looking but trouble prone.
Some of them...
They had a fuel pump issue that made them hard to restart after a hot ride.
Also the plastic covering on the mirror stalks would crack and look shabby.
Mine has suffered from neither of these issues.
Anything else I'm missing?
They still seem to be on dealers websites and CL for about $5500 to $5900 for left over 09's
The only reason I consider selling mine it to get a new CTX 700 or CB1100 Honda to fill the big bike role in my fleet.
It is a very smooth refined scoot an is my long hauler bike.
My only complaint is the seat and its built in hump.. like almost every other scoot.
Too many scoots..... 12 or so I think .

Re: Yamaha Tmax
So a 2009 with 12 miles on it for $6499.00 is not a good price then.

Re: Yamaha Tmax
It maybe a good price in your area.
Make them an offer, never hurts.
Here are 2 in St Louis at different dealers, Both for $5999

I think I paid about $6700 for mine back in 2010. Of course plus taxes and stuff.
There's some good info on the Majesty forum. Has a dedicated TMax section:

Re: Yamaha Tmax
Thanks for the info, after reading the forums it appears Yamaha had a mess on thier hands and refused to fix the issue under warranty or recall. The bike here looks really nice but is over priced compared to the brand new ones shown from the links above. The bike was a demo and purchased by power brokers inc, (a company that gets buyers and sellers together and takes your money in doing so) They have sat on it for quite some time now. To fix the fuel pump it would cost me $500.00 or more.
I think I will pass.

Re: Yamaha Tmax
The two people I know that had them got tired of being stranded & towed. I think it was fuel pump issues. They claimed it was getting repaired more than ridden. It was a blast to ride when you could. No surprise that Yamaha only offered it for 2 years. Supposedly they fixed the issues, added 32cc, but we never got it here, it would have been over 10k & not sold.

My thoughts exactly. Im not going to spend that kind of money to have to walk it to the repair shop. It is a really nice looking bike though.
