Re: Engine stalled
Don't they make platinum plugs like cars have? Cars now can go 100,000 miles on the same plug.
Currently own:

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Re: Engine stalled
I am beyond irritated right now. I broken the new spark plug
And fouled the old one now. Now the old one, I could still ride the bike, but there are noticeable misfires

Relax, breathe, relax. spark plugs are... cheap... be happy you broke the top half and not stripped the soft aluminum engine head.
It is a tight fit to get at the plug opening, but if you go slow, relax, it will work.
Good luck on your next spark plug install adventure.

Re: Engine stalled
I bought this one for $7 at the dealership. Since it was 6pm when I decided I needed to do this again but didnt want to throw away more money, I went to Advance Auto Parts(who originally said they were out of stock along with Autozone and Oreillys) and they ordered me one that I will pick up tomorrow for $3.03. Same exact plug(NGK CPR7EA-9) just doesnt have honda logo on it. Getting it tomorrow but scooter still technically runs more.OriginalRocket wrote:Relax, breathe, relax. spark plugs are... cheap... be happy you broke the top half and not stripped the soft aluminum engine head.

I think that the stalling problem is because of spark plug though. The old one was almost solid black charred. I put it back in and now it stalls way more but as long as I ease the throttle up I can still reach full throttle speeds. It stalled on me at stoplight and I just pushed electric start again. Simple. But I do want to replace it soon.

Low MPG and black charred plug, fuel/air mixture ? Do you just do very short journeys where the engine does not reach operating temperature?.logepoge1 wrote: The old one was almost solid black charred.
Clean the plug and thrash it for 20 miles, try some fuel additive (injector cleaner), Redex in UK but not sure what is available in the states.
Good luck

Re: Engine stalled
Got spark plug changed out. Talked to guy at advance auto parts who happened to be a motorcycle mechanic and he told me the right way to change it. I was accidentally over tightening but didn't damage anything thankfully.

Re: Engine stalled
My 3 year old PCX would almost stall at a light too. I replaced the battery and works just fine now, or it did until Wednesday... I think I blew the engine.

Re: Engine stalled
Ouch. I don't have the problem anymore after replacing the spark plug. I think some bad gas might have been the issue since I didn't have problems until the day after I filled it up from a different gas company. I normally use Exxon and whatever Walmart uses, throw In a circle k too, but I had trouble after filling at a shell station
