Don't think so. The SH150i motor isn't an ESP motor. Hell the exhaust for the PCX125 and 150 are different too.

Re: is the pcx150 the same as a sh150i motor
The current European SH150 shares the same engine with the PCX 150. So, the answer is yes, if we are talking about the new SH150 introduced in 2013. The SH150 even has the same silent start and idling stop mechanism. For 2013, the SH 125 and 150 were completely overhauled.

They're both eSP, but I'm fairly confident they have major differences. At least for the sake of this thread, aren't the swingarms, final drive, suspension, and exhaust different because the sh150i has bigger wheels?khaosaming wrote:The current European SH150 shares the same engine with the PCX 150.

Re: is the pcx150 the same as a sh150i motor
To say they are "completely different" is a gross overstatement. They used to be but not anymore. Northern America lags behind when it comes to new scooters. You will probably get the new chassis and engine later.
There might arise some minor problems when doing a complete engine swap but why should you even try to trade apples for apples? The SH 150i has 16" wheels as opposed to 14" on the PCX. I don't think that's a big difference. The parts should be interchangeable anyway. The PCX engine is a global engine used on multiple platforms. The new Honda Lead 125i eSP (made in Vietnam), for instance, is one of those scooters that utilize the same engine. In Thailand, the new Honda Click has the same eSP power house as well. I'm pretty confident that Honda has not done any major redesigning because it would not be cost effective.

Re: is the pcx150 the same as a sh150i motor
Here's an article about the new SH150i. It claims that the SH150 has more power. Judging by the photos the rear suspension is attached further back and the airbox is different. The wheelbase is 1315 mm (PCX150) / 1340 mm (SH150).

Engine: The single cylinder liquid cooled 153 c.c. engine delivers 14.8 bhp/ 8250 rpm. and 1.42 kgm/6500 rpm. (10,27 ft lbs/6500 rpm) torque, claimed figures.
The engine derives from the Honda PCX 150. It is called eSP (enhanced Smart Power) featuring less friction and the Idling stop system, which result in superb nominal fuel economy: 2.28 l/100 km (124 mpg Imperial), for the 150 c.c. variant.

Maybe, but I think that's being pedantic. The parts aren't 100% interchangable. There are many differences, therefore they are not the same.khaosaming wrote:To say they are "completely different" is a gross overstatement.
Taking into mind the relevancy of the original post, and the purposes of this thread (discussing exhaust swapping), I think we can certainly agree that the exhausts will not be interchangeable.

thank you for the details but maddie is correct in this case the info i was looking for was just to see if i canput the exhaust for one on the other and that is not possible but kinda interesting to see honda starting to really use this powerplant meaning it must be good.

Re: is the pcx150 the same as a sh150i motor
I'm sorry if I was unclear. I was not talking about the slip-on exhaust. I ignored that part completely.
I thought that maybe you there over the big pond don't know that the SH150 has been redesigned and now uses the same engine as the PCX -- for the most parts. That's why I started to elaborate.
The earlier model had front mounted cooler and was different in all aspects. Now the engine is compact with a side mounted cooler and eSP. Just like the PCX. The engine block is the same. The big bore kits they sell in Thailand fit on the PCX 150 and the SH150. They have the same product numbers. The brackets and mounts could be different at the rear where the transmission and suspension are.

The new SH150 is now available in some showrooms in Thailand. The price is 100 000 Baht (the PCX 150 is 77 000 Baht). The SH is imported from the Vietnam plant.

That's all GOOD info though, it means it's easier to find engine upgrades.khaosaming wrote:Now the engine is compact with a side mounted cooler and eSP. Just like the PCX. Re: is the pcx150 the same as a sh150i motor
The new Honda SH125 Mode looks identical down to the transmission block. I'm surprised to see that they modified the swingarm for the SH150i ABS but not here. Confusing.

Maybe Honda chose not to introduce ABS on the new PCX, not for cost reasons but they wanted another selling point for the new Forza 125 which must have been on the drawing boards for many years.
