At 160-odd kilos and with small wheels I have to wonder what the power delivery will be like vs the light and nimble 150cc models on the market.
I once had a short lived affair with a silverwing and basically I have never felt so nervous riding a bike which gives ZERO feedback through the tyres to bum or bars, is too heavy and wide for filtering/tight turns and like a sail in the wind with those small wheels making the whole experience "scary".
I'll take light weight, larger wheels and confidence inspiring handling any day over heavy-weight, excessive plastics and small tires.
Just my thoughts, i'm sure it'll be a nice comfy armchair for some people.

I am impressed, it makes the PCX look like a rusty bicycle, full instrument panel, better storage, 12V socket. I'll bet the Honda execs are kicking themselves. Expect to see a PCX 200 with the same kit in the future.
Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!
I see there's no price announced yet, going by prices here it won't be cheap enough to merit choosing it over a Forza.

Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!
That does have me slightly concerned. Maybe it will make honda release a 2015 PCX 200 early like in July or August 2014. If so that might explain why the 2014 pcx is identical to the 2013.gn2 wrote:I see there's no price announced yet, going by prices here it won't be cheap enough to merit choosing it over a Forza.
If you do the math, the wheels plus the tire height, it shows an overall larger diameter than the pcx for the front but smaller for the rear...Honda4me wrote:At 160-odd kilos and with small wheels I have to wonder what the power delivery will be like vs the light and nimble 150cc models on the market.
burgman vs pcx
front: 528mm vs 518mm
rear: 487mm vs 536mm.
It's only 73lbs (33 kilos) heavier though.

You are coming at this from a USA perspective.cessna151 wrote: that might explain why the 2014 pcx is identical to the 2013.
In Europe, cultural home of the scooter, manufacturers do not routinely offer a changed model every year, its fairly unusual for a scooter to have significant changes during its lifetime.
The PCX has already had a major revision with the eSP variant, there won't be any further significant changes.
The model years are irrelevant, 2012, 2013, 2014..... its the same scooter.

33 Kg is a lot extra, for an extra 50cc.cessna151 wrote: It's only 73lbs (33 kilos) heavier though.

My local dealer has some Burg 400's in. How do they compare to the Forza? At $8K, I would hope they are like a Cadillac...Mel46 wrote:If it handles like my 400 I will be test riding one when they get here.

Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!
Take a look back a few years, at the Honda Helix. That scooter was sold in the US from 1986 to 2001, then again 2004 to 2007; I think it is still being sold in Japan. Not much changed on it during that production run. The PCX is pretty slick, as is. If you need more HP/displacement, Honda has the Forza waiting for you. It might have been sales BS, but we were told by two different sales people when we were scooter shopping that the PCX was selling well.cessna151 wrote: That does have me slightly concerned. The US scooter market is a small percentage for Honda, compared to the rest of the world. I wouldn't anticipate any changes in the PCX in the near future.

I would expect that ABS is on its way, sooner or later.
I have learned from my mistakes, and I am sure I can repeat them exactly.
Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!
By the time ABS becomes mandatory in Europe the PCX might be replaced with something else.

Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!
I'm not sure I see the market for this, not in Europe anyway. It's too cumbersome to be a city nip-about cutting up traffic, and it's not powerful enough to rival similar-sized scoots like the Forza or Burgman 400, which also have the same storage capacity. Sure, pricing will see where it's placed but I think it's halfway between two established markets. And the wheels are too small
Edit: Honda4me, interesting to hear your views on the maxi-scooter, I've never ridden one as I'm far keener on light skinny manoeuvrable bikes for town and motorcycles for longer journeys and the open road, but certainly thought they looked comfortable. I didn't realise they don't give feedback/feel unstable, good to know.

Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!
Looks like more of a competitor to the Forza than the PCX. The PCX is smaller while this looks fatter & wider like the Forza. Still...it looks cool. Am curious how much it'll cost.
Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!
The rim size isn't the whole story. For comparison you should consider the OVERALL tire/wheel diameter, i.e. tire height + rim...snake wrote:And the wheels are too small

The front is actually bigger. The rear is 1.5 inches smaller though. But if there were enough room to fit a 130/90 tire on the burgman 200 it would then be 539mm and then both tires would be bigger than the forza.
Point is rim size can be misleading.

Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!
In the future I might look at the Burgman depends how my PCX holds up. I looked at it a couple of weeks ago and I like some of the features that it has but right now I will stick with what I have until it proves to be a problem.
