Anybody painted their wheels yet?
I just wondered if anybody had done a colour change on the wheels yet? I've seen a set of white ones on a white bike but that's about it. I'm not including the smaller after market chrome efforts you can get from Thailand. I thought repsol orange or the gold ones on the limited edition Japanese models.

Anybody painted their wheels yet?
Not sure yet. I have a spare front wheel I can experiment with. It's on the too do list along with everything else.

Re: Anybody painted their wheels yet?
Me thinks matte gold powder coated wheels would look ace on the red or black scoots.

Re: Anybody painted their wheels yet?
Have no plans at all with my red PCX...wheels look just fine as they are imo.
Re: Anybody painted their wheels yet?
pcx has the best wheels of any scoot so it would be nice to see some customised ones. Maybe white on a black pcx like the old vfr 400...

I am leaning towards trying gold, but white might be too much on a white bike. I do have pearl white paint though. I got a front wheel off eBay so I can experiment a bit and still have the bike mobile.

Re: Anybody painted their wheels yet?
I eventually painted the wheels as you can see. I still have a set of black ones though as spares. The finish is fine but will probably get them professionally done at some point. I wasn't sure about then at first but quite like them now.

The white/gold combo does look classy!
I don't care for the Black/Gold like some of Honda's old scoots came with.
Just a tad too much Smokey and the Bandit for me.

Re: Anybody painted their wheels yet?
Ali, by any chance did you take a close-up shot of a wheel? I'm wondering if the color gold you used is close to what "we" see in our White paint. From a distance your matte gold looks a little deeper in color. Could be just the picture though. Gold is a good choice
What's next? Adding a seat cover or new seat? Hmmm.....
Nice!

Re: Anybody painted their wheels yet?
I haven't taken a close up picture but here is what I used. It took a tin per wheel. I prepped them by giving them a quick sand and then some grey primer before painting. I haven't lacquered them though as I wasn't sure if I was keeping them that colour. I think it's a speedline wheel colour as used on Subarus called drift gold.

Re: Anybody painted their wheels yet?
Oh good, thanks
My opinion... It looks like the matte gold you used has a greenish hue. Is that what you wanted Ali? Have you considered a more yellow gold? Something like this (I just goggled a bit online):
http://www.amazon.com/GrimmSpeed-Gold-P ... Paint+gold
Or even brighter...this?
http://www.way2speed.com/2012/04/mickey ... z2biQjt3gk I'm not saying I don't like your choice and the finish, because I do. I just happen to see the gold in our paint as a more yellow gold. Don't know if I'd go matte or gloss though. Too many decisions, heh?
Sure is a plus that you have spare wheels to experiment with

Re: Anybody painted their wheels yet?
It's a satin finish on the wheels. If they were lacquered the colour might darken slightly and obviously be shiny. It was a bit of an experiment to see if I liked the colour before getting them done professionally. The finish is ok but I don't know how hard wearing it would be with getting tyres changed, stone chips etc.
I got a couple of wheels of ebay so I can have a set for painting but keep the bike mobile. They weren't expensive an i can revert it back to standard if required.

Resurrecting an old thread but it's an update. I had the wheels powdercoated today.
Far better than the paint.
