Gears for higher top speed
I am currently aware of 2 options.
1. Kitaco long ratio sprocket set: http://www.okaeri-japan.fr/index.php?pa ... t&Itemid=3
51 teeth vs 53 stock gives 3.9% higher gearing.
2. Yuminashi FORGED GEAR SPROCKET SET 15/45 (3.0): http://yuminashi.squarespace.com/-pcx15 ... ockets-pa/
45/15 teeth vs 44/13 stock gives 12.8% higher gearing, which I would prefer.
According to the website one has to replace the speed sensor tho'.
Are there any other options out there?

140-70-14 tire on stock wheel, will add 4mph.

If you change the gearing for higher top speed, you will have slower acceleration....probably ok
for most people. Of course, you could add an aftermarket pipe and a lower restriction intake
system to get back part or all of the lost acceleration. By the time that is all done, it might
be more cost effective to just get a Forza.
It's a lot of fun to think about, though.....a Supa Scoota, of sorts.

I checked my speedo against GPS and it reads 10% high. ie: shows 110km/h when I'm travelling at 100km/h.
I'll investigate tyre prices. At least they'll be available locally (I think).

I am currently of the view that it will improve acceleration - provided CVT is correctly set up.
My 11.5g sliders are on their way.

You don't actually need to replace the speed sensor, just modify it. Pcxdemon knows about this.

I'll have to reassess after installing the sliders. If the sliders don't improve top end (much), then I'll have a strong preference for the Yuminashi set.

i know my sliders didnt increase speed much just got me there faster and maintain easier

Wingz, I conversed back and forth with Yuminashi with the same idea in mind. I was told that with my 150 unless I had a 31mm throttle body or big bore kit I would not be happy with the results.
I currently have a yuminashi Variator in the mail and will be posting results shortly after I get it. Their variator allows a top speed over 90 mph.

I'm only looking to operate closer to the peak power rpms when riding over 90km/h. And to not hit rev limiter when cruising at 110-120km/h.
If the gear set can achieve this without unexpected side-effects, then I'll be happy with the result.
How should a South African go about buying from Yuminashi?

There is not. Enough power with the 150 to take advantage they said. It was suggested to install a big bore kit and larger throttle body first. Their variator will give you up to 150kph or 93 mph. With a stock 150 we are expected to reach 135-140 kph. I will find out soon as mine is on its way across the ocean as I type this.

It's all relative guess. I'm not looking for more power.
If there is enough power to hit the rev limiter, then surely there is enough power to go faster.
After all, peak power is well below redline.
After installing the gear kit, it would run close to peak power at the speed at which it currently redlines.
Perfect IMO.
Did you buy direct from Yuminashi?

Wingz there is power to go faster, it's just a matter of faster with the ability to hold speed up hills that becomes an issue. I'm just trying to help you see that a variator is a much better option than the gear kit. The stock variator limits you to 68 mph before your weights are bouncing around. You are not at redline at that point. Actually well below. Peak power is about 8000rpm for us. Anyway, you will never reach 8000 rpm if you don't change your variator first.

I've ordered 11.5g sliders already. I would order the takegawa variator through webike and put your sliders in. That will make a MAJOR improvement. Probably by 8-10 mph on your top speed. The stock variator severely limits the pcx. The ends of the ramps are squared off.

The takegawa variator is cheaper than the yuminashi gears and, if I understand you correctly, will achieve the same thing (13% improved top speed).
The takegawa variator would have to be a larger diameter than the stock variator if this is the case.

It's not that it's larger, it's the fact that the ramps are full length. The stock variator ramps won't allow the weights to go out fully. The ramps are cut short so just swapping to ANY aftermarket variator will provide gains. I'll try and upload a comparison picture.
