Currently lying in bed nursing a sore elbow and rib, after coming off this morning on some ice on a bend. Glad it's no more than that, I was taking it easy and the protective clothing worked a treat, so actually feel quite lucky. The pcx held up quite well, in the 5am darkness there didn't look to be much damage, just been down for a second look in the light, and there's a bit of work to do. But could've been worse so take it easy out there... Might post a few pics of damage later.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you'll be up and riding again soon. What kind of protective gear were you wearing and how did it hold up?

Ouch.
I try to avoid ice conditions by constantly monitoring the weather.
If it looks like there's a risk of ice or snow the scooter gets left at home.

Had a Spada jacket and trousers and a berghaus waterproof over the top. And to think all those times I've questioned whether I can be bothered putting it all on..... They held up brilliantly, think the ice provided a frictionless surface so not a tear on them...

Might be worth having a good look at he centrestand mounts, it looks like its taken a fair bit of a wallop.

yep there were a few sparks from the centre stand scraping across the road.... Going through insurance and getting it all fixed up hopefully. Wondering whether I buy a new seat without the hump while they're sorting it....

Wow si, you must be hurting,

that's quite a bit of damage to your bike! Dark morning riding can be scary, toss in ice and what a mix that is! Sorry ya'll met, but glad your basically okay. Wearing proper gear helped you for sure! Hope you feel better soon.

Glad your not badly hurt, when the insurance assessment happens, make sure everything is listed inc a frame check.

Siplumb, I did the same thing on a grease or oil spot one morning. Excluding the seat and centre stand you should be around $150 from the dealer. The parts are dirt cheap and come pre painted. The lower faring should be around $15, the black plastic foot rest is $25, the front upper is the booger to replace and comes in at around $28. The mirror should be about $20 and your aluminum foot peg around $25-30. Probably the most expensive excluding the centre stand. If I remember correctly the centre stand is between $50-60. I guess what I'm saying is if you do the work yourself you won't even meet your deductible. The parts for these things are stupid cheap!!!

My dealer took about a week to get the parts and didn't charge me shipping.

Oh, your belt cover is the most expensive at about $130. I'd just paint it

It looks like a pretty slow speed spill. Bar end and main stand have taken the brunt. One alternative might just be to ride it as is?

I rode it slowly back from where it happened but the handling definitely felt wrong, but being pretty inexperienced I figure that's what the insurance is there for and I'd rather not take the risk.

Chances are the handlebars will be bent or the alignment off.
Even a small amount can feel weird, but not necessarily a big problem to sort.

Get an estimate from the dealer and then decide if your doing it yourself.

What kind of speed where you doing?
Sure has filed that metal down some!
I'm glad your okay, it could been a lot worse.

If you do repair it yourself I would definitely take it to a dealer to get it checked for frame damage ect,
My Suzuki GSR was a Category B - Unrepairable, after a reactively low speed incident (Under 30mph)

Ok, this may or may not apply but I have noticed that this season is crazy and drivers have their minds elsewhere. A couple of days ago I was following my wife's car home after we picked up the other car from the shop. We came to a light and waited for the arrow in order to turn left. Across from us were other cars waiting to turn right on red after stopping. The turn arrow light turned green and the car in front of my wife turned. My wife gave it some room and then started her turn. Damned if some old lady didn't go straight through the red light on her right without even slowing down. My wife slammed on her brakes and the car just missed her as it kept on going at about 25 miles per hour. That car came within inches of the car in front of of her and followed it that close till eventually turning into the post office. Who knows where that person's mind was, but it wasn't on driving! So, please be extra careful out there during this time of year. Others aren't watching out for you.
