Mods on my PCX 125
Hello, everybody. I am a new guy to the forum and also the PCX.
I bought it used with approximately 3200 miles for $2500 USD in California.
just want to share some mods that I did on my PCX. However,
I knew nothing about the mechanical stuff of PCX or even other bikes.
Therefore, I give the parts to some professional and let them install it.
I am really satisfy with my PCX now. The mods seems give me more power and top end speed.
I am a 180lbs guy and the PCX can now run 55mph~59mph at maximum on plain road. Also, when
riding up slope, I can get 45mph~49mph. Fabulous!
However, I think the mods decrease the acceleration and increase the usage of gasoline too.
By the way, I have few questions.
1) How frequent you change the engine oil?
2) I want to change the rear shock for my PCX, any good suggestion? (Budget:$250~$300 USD)
3) Any other mods should I do if I want to have more acceleration?
Thanks a lot!

Switch to a yuminashi variator to boost your speed up over 70mph.

Welcome.
May I ask you to estimate the slope of the hill? If you are interested in comparisons, the only comparative info I have is for a 10% grade.

Re: Mods on my PCX 125
FYI depending on tires/wind etc on the flat a 125 has the potential of about indicated 73-78 mph (or real 67-71)
Re: Mods on my PCX 125
+1 or alternatively Takegawa,Daytona,Kn Planning or Malossi. All of these will give you much better top end with same acceleration as Kitaco vario. Also Kitaco belt is only good with Kitaco vario,if used on any other varios will decrease top end even further...Mgalutia88 wrote:Switch to a yuminashi variator to boost your speed up over 70mph.

Re: Mods on my PCX 125
Thanks for all of you guys replying me!
And sorry for the late reply... Lol
I could not able to switch to another vario. because I don't want to waste the
kitaco one. Maybe after a year, I will. Lol
Do you guys have any suggestion on rear shock??

Hope this can help!
Re: Mods on my PCX 125
OK slope is height / distance so 5% is for every one ft in climb you go forward 20. In real life? You should climb 5 yards in every 100. of 15 ft per 300ft.RoederChan wrote:How do I estimate the slope of the hill??waspmike wrote:Welcome.

My numbers are based on 5% if the hill is steeper then...

RoederChan,
looks like your from SD from your google maps post. i'm in SD as well im out in Mira Mesa. Just picked up a PCX 150 last night PM me we should meet up. A bunch of us in SD roll out pretty hard with rucks and zumas. I guess the board doesnt support PM's. hit me up via email at dem0nk1d@ "gmail"

I am not really good at math but I find Google Earth helped!
I find that Google Earth can help me to calculate the slope.....
Hope the data can help....

Re: Mods on my PCX 125
so you're bombing Genesee from the Clairemont, to just a little above UCHS? I'm only able to hit 65 where ever i go on the PCX 150. I end up hitting the rev limiter. Sucks big time.

Re: Mods on my PCX 125
That's not your limiter bud, it's your rollers bouncing around. Probably around 6800 rpm. The rev limiter is at 9600.
Re: Mods on my PCX 125
You think it's the rollers bouncing around? Centrifugal force should push them to the outer edge of the variator no matter what.Mgalutia88 wrote:That's not your limiter bud, it's your rollers bouncing around. Probably around 6800 rpm. The rev limiter is at 9600.

Theyre bouncing. That's why they get flat spots.

If you drop to 10-12g weights you'll hear the rpms scream. This is the tach I use. It's small and convenient to place and cheap too at $26

Re: Mods on my PCX 125
But with the RPMS increasing you'll still hit the same speeds on the variator. I need to take the cvt cover off and do some testing.Mgalutia88 wrote:If you drop to 10-12g weights you'll hear the rpms scream. This is the tach I use. It's small and convenient to place and cheap too at $26

Re: Mods on my PCX 125
The best test is to use a sharpe and mark the variator faces to see where and how high the belt is riding.
