I bought the Honda Rear Trunk Base 08L70-KZY-910, and it is indeed very sturdy metal construction. I have not yet installed it because I haven't decided on which trunk to get.
I'm thinking, however, that the Monolock or Monokey universal bases can easily be installed by first drilling mounting holes through the metal Honda Rear Trunk Base.
It might involve holes in a location like this: (I drew in the possible hole locations as a mock-up.)

Great idea! That plate is pretty heavy, but once you drill through, it would never let go! Let us know if you decide to go that way.

Very nice write up. One of the best I've ever read with all the pictures I feel it would be a snap.

Can you post a photo with your macbook pro inside the trunk? I just want to see the clearance because I'm still having trouble imaging how it would fit . It's a darn big laptop..

If you are concerned that the 370 won't be big enough, I put a 470 on mine. It might look oversized for the bike in pics, but it real life it doesn't look too big at all. The model I have has the brake (aim) light as well which is a nice feature. You can see it in the "Gallery" section on the "Before and After" thread.

Hi Pcx Commuter,

Just new to these forums and found your install guide really interesting and useful. Just bought a pcx 125 and planning on a top box install using the honda rear plate alongside the givi e370 which you have successfully carried out.

Just need some guidance with step 11 where you did some nice fancy work. Can you explain that part in more detail and also wondering how the top box and rear plate is holding up since the install.

Any guidance would be awesome.

This is a very thorough tutorial! I just received my Givi box and I'm waiting on my Honda OEM bracket. I saw steps 11-11b and I'm wondering if that will be pretty intuitive when I do the install, or are there any other details you could provide on how to rig the Givi mount to the Honda bracket? Thanks in advance!

Hello all I've received Honda trunk finally today from US. I'm wondering how to mount the Givi base plate because point 11b of PCX commander photos is not so clear. I'm thinking about drilling the holes anyone already did it ? If so would you mind please to share photos ? Thanks.

BrAtKo, the mounting hardware that comes with the kit typically mounts to the baseplate without drilling. Do the holes not line up?

Pcx commander has used some different parts not included in honda kit and even in Givi kit.

The only hardware I don't recognize is on the bottom -- those brackets aren't the same. Typically, a washer and nut is included on the bottom, and they hold the case mounting plate to the rack.

Mel46 has a stock rack with stock hardware, hopefully he or someone else that had the rack can chime in or post pictures of whether or not they had to drill.

Hello all I've picked up mine pcx 150 2014 and finished mounting the box. First I've had to extend two holes with dremel grinder and all threads has been protected with thread locker.
