Performance parts
Hi all,
I need some help from you guys.
Can you advise what's parts do I need to change for my PCX125 to get better acceleration ? I really don't care about top speed, more interest in acceleration at traffic light . Just because I used my pcx in city only , not cruising on free-way.
Please send me the links of the parts I need to buy
Thanks

Re: Performance parts
I fitted some Dr Pulley sliders: http://www.exportstrength.com/index.php ... _8513_8777
11.5g and a 1mm spacer did the trick for my PCX150.
I don't know what mass to recommend for a PCX125.

I drive everyday in City now, all I need is a simple modify to make my PCX125 better acceleration for City used.

Re: Performance parts
Those variator kits are also good.. the Takegawa looks like good value and there are a few people on this forum who have had success with it.
But Dr Pulley sliders are cheaper still and will do everything that you are looking for.
They also tend to slide more freely than rollers so rpm adjustments are very responsive and smooth when adjusting throttle.

Re: Performance parts
I got 13g dr pulleys in mine as I didn't want to go too light and having it rev too hard. It does seem to make a difference to the mid range acceleration going up hills but don't expect miracles. Your not increasing the power, just how it's transmitted.

Re: Performance parts
It basically the same job to replace the pulley and or the sliders as the pulley has to come off regardless. The sliders are the cheaper option so try them first and see how you get on. As I said I used 13 gram 15x20 sliders but some people are using lighter ones. If you go too light you will lose top speed though. I use mine on a mix of town and A roads so wanted the best of acceleration and speed.

Re: Performance parts
malossi multivar 2000 with the 10.5 gr weights that come with this + red malossi clutch springs will give you a massive increase in acceleration and top speed of 70-73, i have got a takegawa and used dr pulleys with it but took that out as my multivar is WAY quicker acceleration.

Re: Performance parts
I got them on ebay but the supplier has a website. http://www.exportstrength.com/index.php ... _8513_8777
They come from Thailand but only took a week or so to deliver to the UK.

Re: Performance parts
Actually you are doing both. The engine produces substantially more power at 8000-8500 rpm than at 5000 rpm.Alibally wrote:Your not increasing the power, just how it's transmitted.
Running at lower gearing for a particular speed and power also means you are getting more torque to the wheel.
As I wrote elsewhere, 11.5 gram sliders were not low enough for my PCX150 until I added the 1mm spacer.
Pcxdemon recommended 10g sliders for a PCX125. I think that would be a reasonable choice.
One must either use trial and error or do some measurements and calculate.
For sure 13g sliders would only provide half the boost that is available.
I would think you'd need to drop below 9g to degrade your top speed.

Re: Performance parts
Pcxdemon has more experience than me regarding the slider weights so might be better to take his advice about them. I wasn't wanting to go light because I don't want to rev the nuts off it all the time.
Regarding my statement about the engine power, obviously the higher up the rev range you go the more power, but the engine doesn't suddenly develop an extra ??bhp by changing the sliders.

Re: Performance parts
Hi All ,
Thank you all so much with your suggestion/advised and helping me, much appreciate.
I was placed an order Dr Pulley Rollers 10 gram, and will change it first see how I go.
http://www.exportstrength.com/product_i ... ts_id=1238
If it doesn't work out what I need , I will buy Malossi variator multivat 2000 kits. This set I get from the local shop in Australia any time.

Is there anything others do I need ?
Once again, thank you all so much.

Re: Performance parts
You either fit sliders or rollers. The sliders replace the standard rollers. If you have bought rollers then give them a try, they should have a similar effect. The standard rollers in EU bikes are 15g

Re: Performance parts
You ordered the right thing.
I dunno why they call them rollers.
They even call them SLIDING "ROLLERS" in one place... which would be an apt name for the conventional round weights.
The stock weights are round but they slide anyway and develop flat spots.
Dr Pulley weights are made with flat sides to slide on which is more sensible.
