Does the AdvancePro outer pulley have a concave face?

Re: Gears for higher top speed
No concave. It's straight 14 degree face. It's quite good product, works really well with Takegawa vario and sliders.in this instance I gained extra 4kmh top end by using sliders alone with that set up.wingz wrote:Does the AdvancePro outer pulley have a concave face?

Re: Gears for higher top speed
Based on the above, I can use both the Kitaco sprocket and the Yumi sprocket kit -- I did see it mentioned that the Yumi kit is for the 150, any reason why it wouldn't be appropriate on a bored out 170? I have more than enough power to use it.wingz wrote:This thread started out as question regarding ways to increase the gearing.
I put forward to gear options: Kitaco and Yuminashi.
<snip>
Below I have listed some options and their calculated increase in gearing.
1. Kitaco long ratio sprocket .................................... 3.9%
2. Yuminashi FORGED GEAR SPROCKET SET ................ 12.8%
3. 140/70-14 rear tyre ........................................... 3%
4. Variator or sliders .............................................. 6.6% ???
<snip>
I also saw it mentioned that you can modify the speed sensor instead of using the Yumi aftermarket one, can someone confirm?
I really need to look into how much my vario is contracting in the front; I feel as though it isn't as effective as it should be. I didn't gain hardly any top speed with the Kitaco sprocket + new belt + big bore kit (I already have the Takegawa "high speed pulley kit," but found it worked best with the stock weights).

Re: Gears for higher top speed
I believe the Yumi kit is applicable to both 125 and 125/150 esp models.maddiedog wrote: Based on the above, I can use both the Kitaco sprocket and the Yumi sprocket kit -- I did see it mentioned that the Yumi kit is for the 150, any reason why it wouldn't be appropriate on a bored out 170? The only transmission difference I am aware of between 125 and 150esp is the gears that the Yumi kit replace.
125 is 13/47, 150esp is 13/44, and Yumi is 15/45.
And since the kitaco kit replaces a different gear, you should be able to install it together with the Yumi kit.
Yumi state the following on 125 and 150esp pages but to my mind it only makes sense for the 125.
The 45 tooth gear is smaller than the 47 tooth gear but surely not smaller than the 44 tooth gear of the 150esp.
Keep in mind that after the installation your speedometer won't be able to function because the speed sensor will be to far away from the smaller 45T gear sprocket. Ask your dealer for the Yuminashi 37700-KWN-000 speed sensor to install in combination with the Forged Gear Set
I also want to know. I am considering getting this kit towards the end of this year.maddiedog wrote:I also saw it mentioned that you can modify the speed sensor instead of using the Yumi aftermarket one, can someone confirm?

Advance pro pulley angle (taken from above)...... 14 deg
Stock.......................................................... 15 deg
J Costa........................................................ 13.5 deg
I have not measured any others.

Somewhere on this forum I am sure that this has been discussed, but where is the best place buy a reinforced belt, and which one is best?

I like the factory belt. 10,000 miles on my PCX with no issues on the original belt.Mel46 wrote:belt

Re: Gears for higher top speed
I get mine from webike. Not many places to get a reinforced belt in the US and gates USA doesn't make one for our application.
Re: Gears for higher top speed
Just out of interest what is a reinforced belt and has anyone cut an old one in half to compare with a cut in half stock one?
Re: Gears for higher top speed
its the strands are reinforced with kevlar to keep the belt from stretching as easily meaning it will last longer and hold up to more stress
DISOBEDIENCE CREW
Re: Gears for higher top speed
Yes but has anyone who bought a reinforced belt ever looked inside? How does anyone know it is reinforced apart from the marketing guy?
How do we know the stock belt is not "kevlar"
Unless someone cuts an old one in half?

Re: Gears for higher top speed
From what i can see all gates belts are aramid (Kevlar)Mgalutia88 wrote:I get mine from webike. Not many places to get a reinforced belt in the US and gates USA doesn't make one for our application.
From what I can see all Gates belts for Honda over 125 are Boost+ they don't go to the double sided or double notched Boost DN type until 200cc and above. So for Forza yes.1) BOOST ™ with aramid reinforced rubber compound to improve durability
2) BOOST ™+ with aramid reinforced rubber compound and extra strong aramid
tensile members to maximize acceleration, shock load resistance and service life
Sadly I don't have a part# for PCX

Re: Gears for higher top speed
Just a side note, mark the direction of rotation before you remove your belt.
I recently had a daytona reinforced belt explode when I reinstalled it the reverse of the direction I took it off. Anyway I have cut a factory belt and have had a Kevlar belt explode. The stock belt and reinforced belts are different in that the reinforced belts don't stretch and don't squish together near as much. The fabrics are also definetly different.

Good tip
Re: Gears for higher top speed
Next time? As the fabrics are different Aramide (Kevlar) does not burn, whereas natural fibres will.Mgalutia88 wrote:Just a side note, mark the direction of rotation before you remove your belt.

Re: Gears for higher top speed
Anyone know where to actually buy the "Yuminashi FORGED GEAR SPROCKET SET" for the PCX? I can't find it anywhere.

Re: Gears for higher top speed
Yes, the first picture was exactly what I'm looking for.Alibally wrote:Do you mean this?
I made this diagram to make everything a bit more clear: The stock ratio for the set above is 13:47 (1:3.6), the Yumi (Forged Final Gear Set) kit is 15:45 (1:3). With that change, it would increase more than 12% cited earlier in the thread -- that would add 20% to the 125cc model. For my PCX and its current top speed with the bore kit, that would mean 85mph. That would be INSANE. Mind you, it'll make my speedometer even further off -- it will probably read around 65-70 at that point still.

While I'm at it, I calculated the 44t Final Gear Sprocket set vs. stock. The stock ratio is still 13:47 (1:3.6), and the other Yumi (Final gear Sprocket) kit gives 13:44 (1:3.38), or a 6.8% increase.
I went ahead and spent the $130 to buy the kit. I'll update back here how it goes, and will likely make an actual how-to for it; I didn't make a how-to for the Kitaco gear up kit.
