Centerstand removed...Weighs 2.75lbs
Yup, going for some minor weight savings. Couldn't find any data on the weight of the centerstand, so pulled it off and put it on my postage scale. 2.75lbs. All 4 reflectors save another 6 oz. Just ordered up my Lion battery also for $79 shipped. Weighs 1.1lb vs stock 4.6lbs for a 3.5lb savings. =) Rear fender in it's entirety prob weighs a couple lbs as well, but will prob leave that on. It's handy to have on when riding in the wet to keep dirty water from flipping back up on your clothes or more likely a passenger's...not that I plan on riding in the rain any time soon here in San Diego.

Re: Centerstand removed...Weighs 2.75lbs
If I lost the spare tire I could drop my total weight by at least 20 pounds...
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

Not wearing socks and underwear would save a bit..

Every little bit helps when going up hills on the freeway on an under powered scooter. Also aids in shortening braking distances, improved flickability, acceleration, etc.

I got 20lbs off my CBR 250 and that definitely helped in handling and in going up hills!

I somehow think that if I am thinking that consciously about excess weight, I'm not really enjoying the bike and maybe it's time to start considering a different ride. The PCX is what it is. Enjoy it!

I agree. The bike is already so light...much lighter and it might as well be a bicycle.kramnala58 wrote:I somehow think that if I am thinking that consciously about excess weight, I'm not really enjoying the bike and maybe it's time to start considering a different ride. Re: Centerstand removed...Weighs 2.75lbs
I agree the scooter is reasonably light already, especially compared to a Forza, burgman, Majesty, etc. Power to weight, it's already pretty decent. For me in SoCal with freeways moving consistently well above 70mph, an extra mph up a hill is very comforting when cars are zipping by fast when I'm stuck going 60!
I guess I'm a different breed. Riding dirtbikes and jumping them, the extra weight of a 250 vs 125 back in the day was very noticable in the air and flicking the bike around the track. On my sportbikes, it was also very beneficial. Even on my cars, I would take useless crap off, and got 420lbs off my street/track car and transformed it even beyond my expectations.
The centerstand is easy enough to put back on when I need to change a tire. I'm willing to deal with a bit of inconvenience on occassion with parking to get the minor benefit. And YES, I just started on a mini diet this morn. My scale is reading me at 150 and that's about 5lbs more than I need to be even if I am 5'10"! =)

It can get pretty windy where I live, and in those situations I wouldn't mind some extra weight
Currently own a red pcx150 and a red NC750x DCT

There was another brand that was 105CCA for $74.00 on amazon, this one was 150CCA for $79. I've run LiIon batteries in several bikes before. Always a nice weight savings from them and improved cranking power. =)

Go for a jobby before your journey. That'll save a bit of weight.

Re: Centerstand removed...Weighs 2.75lbs
For competition no doubt saving weight is important but for average road use it is like buying some titanium parts for a mountain bike then adding an extra water bottle

Thanks for the link! I'm not concerned so much about weight, but I can spare another pound for an extra battery to run some heated gear!

Re: Centerstand removed...Weighs 2.75lbs
I agree with you scooterman, save weight where ever you can.
My pcx is 50+ lbs lighter than stock. even with heavier tires.
Probably the single most heavy piece I removed was the grab rail... 4lbs...
And if you don't have a passenger why would you need the rear pegs another 4lbs...
Ignore the haters..., I like my 70+mph bicycle

Re: Centerstand removed...Weighs 2.75lbs
Dash, how does the 150 fell at those speeds being so much lighter? One of my concerns as a 1 y/o rider is *because* of how light the bike is. On windy days, or on streets with more than one lane, wind or passing cars makes me feel a bit unstable. I'd actually hope for a heavier ride than a lighter one, and forgo a few extra MPH.
Not hating, just asking!

It feels fine, I'm used to it I guess, my gy6/ruckus was just a little lighter...dustin91 wrote:Dash, how does the 150 fell at those speeds being so much lighter? I think my lower/rearward seating position and forward bar position help in stability, more so than the stock position anyway

Re: Centerstand removed...Weighs 2.75lbs
and just some advice this is a very stable scoot (came from a elite 80) so the instability you feel may be more a mental block than actual danger

Re: Centerstand removed...Weighs 2.75lbs
Sure, this is my first ride so it's all new to me... but out in the hills of NJ on a windy day, the 150 shows its lightweight-ness.
