Got a GoPro
Picked up a GoPro HD Hero 2 and decided to strap it to th PCX for a ride. There are a lot of trees where I live.

Re: Got a GoPro
Whats the point of running the film at high speed? Why not just edit with some of the more nicer bits as bit of a boring film to be honest

Re: Got a GoPro
nice video and music. would rather watch this than a remake of titanic even if it is in 3d.

Re: Got a GoPro
Awesome, I love the GoPros. Did you get the new one that does 1080p @ 60fps? Me and a friend of mine have two of the older ones (720P @ 60fps / 1080p @ 30fps). The image is great.

Currently ride: Nothing right now - mostly mountain biking with my boys until they're old enough to ride

A fellow Washingtonian! Woot! It would be great to see the scenery in a few weeks when Spring has finally taken hold here. I was out on the PCX yesterday running errands and it is finally warm enough that I would have taken my jacket liner out if I had a convenient place to stash it. Cool video music.

Re: Got a GoPro
What mount did you use? Would like to see footage at normal speed on surfaces that are a lil less flat as I think the video footage would be too bumpy unless camera was mounted lower down and not on handle bars. Been thinking on a GoPro myself

Re: Got a GoPro
Its an HD Hero 2 Outdoor Edition, the new 1080p "professional" quality one. I just used a sticky mount on the left side, it clears right under the handlebar.
@TC3 running the film at high-speed because it would make for a boring hour long video otherwise at regular speed.
@rainburg the weather has been beautiful lately and great for scooting.
I'm impressed at how steady the camera is with the mount since the roads were quite bumpy.

Re: Got a GoPro
Cool now would it be possible to take a pic showing mounting position please? Does the sticky mount have to be permanent? It does look steady considering you say it was a bumpy road :-)

Re: Got a GoPro
I'll get a shot later today, its just double sided sticky tape, the kind they use to attach car emblems, so it can be removed easily.

Re: Got a GoPro
The sticky mount uses VHB tape, which is really close to permanent. It comes off, but you have to be really careful not to damage the plastic because of how hard you have to pull to get it off!

Re: Got a GoPro
I've trying to decide between one of these or the ContourGPS. Hero = better vid quality, Contour = gps log that you can put online and show along with your vid which is quite interesting?
Mounts are tricky. I've read good and bad reviews of the handle bar mounts. The PCX is a bit too curvy for suction cups to work maybe?

Re: Got a GoPro
You tube...i saw a video a while back with go pro suctioned to lower panel at front vs handlebar mount. Will try and find it for you

Re: Got a GoPro
dont think id ever be able to trust a suction cup on a bike, if it drops theres no way the cameras surviving.

Here it is but mounted to side and to screen...my mistake and not the handlebars

GoPro is designed for it. They typically have a good warranty too.Woolley wrote:dont think id ever be able to trust a suction cup on a bike, if it drops theres no way the cameras surviving.

Re: Got a GoPro
Thats interesting. You get a much smoother view from lower down. I would like to be able to fit the camera to my helmet but I've got a flip front so it doesn't look like there is a fitting that would suit.TC3 wrote:Here it is but mounted to side and to screen...my mistake and not the handlebars

That's an example of Darwinism in action.gn2 wrote:What about on a train?Woolley wrote:dont think id ever be able to trust a suction cup on a bike, if it drops theres no way the cameras surviving.

Re: Got a GoPro
I stick the GoPro on my helmet when dirt biking, it's actually a lot smaller than the Contour...
